Tailbone pain

Ever since the epidural wore off after giving birth I've had an awful pain in my tailbone; in the hospital it hurt so badly I couldn't sit in a chair at all, and 8 days later now it still aches, especially when I try to stand up after sitting. One of the doctors at the hospital told me it's likely that baby just bruised my tailbone on her way out, but that it could also possibly be fractured from the pressure...

Has anyone here had a bruised tailbone after delivery? How long did it take for the pain to go away? I really really hope it's not fractured, it's really painful!

i have had that after my last 2 births & it hurts so much. After Roxie i had to have antibiotics as it has caused an infection in my back. It took a few weeks to get better. I couldnt stand up straight. Hope you feel better soon

I cant offer any answers but I have been suffering the same pain in my tailbone since my third trimester. It especially hurts when I have been sitting on a hard surface. I had a large baby 9lb 6oz so I do think the pressure of her during the final stages of labour and my delivery have damaged my tailbone in some way.
Ill be watching this thread for any answers aswell x

I had this, but the pain only lasted about 2 days.

2 weeks on and still hurts- I think it might be fractured after all. How on earth does a 6 lb. baby fracture a tailbone on the way out?!?
