Periods post pregnancy

I was wondering how long it took for your periods to return after normal delivery?

I know everybody varies, but I have been getting af type pain, and still bleeding after 2 weeks, and wondering if I could be having first official af after giving birth? Mwife said size of uterus back to normal again when she checked on Friday too, so poss not pain related to shrinking!

I really want to go back on the pill asap but not until I've had an 'official/real' af.

I think the general concensus is that if your bleeding stops then starts again, or you are bleeding more than 4 weeks after giving birth, it is classed as a period.

Most women have a longer gap than that - it was 8 weeks til I had my first period. Make sure you stock up on super pads and painkillers in preparation for that delight
