i think your safe to drive when you are healed enough to perform an emergancy stop without discomfort.

6 weeks is bandied about but if you ring your doctor and he says you are fit to drive, you tell your insurers and you can drive. I did this at 4 weeks. You definately need to do it properly or if you have an accident you will be uninsured.

I waited until I saw my doctor at 8 weeks, but I think it depends on the insurance company. Personally, I don't think I would have been able to comfortably do an emergency stop before then anyway, but worth checking again with your insurance company to make sure you're covered x

Things are different in the UK i'm sure, but I was told by my doctor to not drive for 2 weeks after my c-section. I dont think it matters here in US with the insurance companies. I may be wrong though.

i asked my dr on friday (lo was 3 weeks thursday) and he said as long as you can do an emergency stop without being in pain then its fine. I said if i am honest with myself i am in pain even when i walk and he said well lets leave it for another 2 weeks then.

Now i dunno whether i have to go back for him to give the nod or i can just drive in two weeks?
x

Also twisting round to check your blindspot, that pulled for about 3 months after my C Sec. I waited until after my Doc gave me the OK which was the guidence of my insurance company

I was told if you drive before 6 weeks and are in an acciednt you wont be insured and that insurance companies are very strict about it.. they need to know about any operation. (but from what i gather insurance companies vary slightly on how many weeks..) I would check with them when they let you, if they say when your ok i think you need confirmation from your GP just incase there is any discrepancies between anyone if you were in an accident or anything. im waiting till my 6 week check on friday but tbh im not really up to driving because of my kidney pain so will only do it when i need to. x
