episiotomy issues... tmi

i had an episiotomy when my son was born... i wasn't told how bad i tore, or how many stitches. i could never see the stitches when i looked but by the time i gathered the courage to look down there, they could've been dissolved. anyway, my husband and i only waited 11 days to have sex. after we did, a few days later, i got a bad pain down there and the only way i can explain it, is that it felt like i had a pimple on my vagina or something. or like, when you get a sty in your eye and it feels sore... it kind of feels like that. it hurts when i sit the wrong way and even when i walk... when i look down there, i don't see anything but i'm not sure what i'm looking at either :S i don't know if what i am seeing is my scar, because it's like protruding tissue almost like a hemorrhoid or something. it might even be a hemorrhoid, i'm really not sure, but it's closer to the vagina than the anus. i'm freaked out... it hurts so bad! has anyone else had this and if so, what did you do to relieve it? i'm going to mention it to my doctor when i go back in but until then, what can i do?

also, what does your scar look like? what i am seeing, it goes from what i would consider the "bottom" of my vagina to about almost an inch from my anus... but it is like, fleshy, it's not like a flat normal scar.

I know what you mean! sometimes i would even get that feeling when i used tampons (seems like so long ago now lol) I was told to wait up to 6 weeks to have sex, and believe me it is killing me! I dont think you really have to wait six weeks, but you may have gone a bit too early. I would just go to the doc to be sure that nothing has come undone cuz they can still stich you up since it hasnt been too long. Also, i had my baby a month ago and i still had a couple of stiches last week when i went to the dr. so they last quite a bit longer than i though. I was having the same sort of problem. it felt like there was something between my legs there when i walked or sat down a certain way, and he said sometimes they take care of it with some silver nitrate, but that it was better to just let it heal naturally. Hope this helps!

also, my scar looks pretty scarey lol, or so my hubby says, cuz i cant relaly see it. i had what is considered 3rd degree tearing, i didnt have an episiotomy, they just let me tear during a vaccuum-assisted delivery. it was quite painful for a couple of weeks, but its healing nicely now. just be patient and dont try to push yourself too hard yet, you just had a baby and so you deserve to relax and have nice hot baths now that you can again!!!

if only i had a bathtub that would hold water... lol that would be so nice. not that i have time without LO screaming at me, hehe :] i tried looking up pictures on google, to see if what i am looking at is the scar or if it's something different... but there are only like, cartoon diagrams and one picture of a really hairy one so i couldn't tell what i was looking at

the car ride to the doctor will be painful too... 80 miles away and when i call they probably won't be able to get me in for two weeks. maybe it'll go away on its own... is there something i can put on it that is gentle but would help the pain?

I was told I had excess scar tissue (called a granula or something like that). Dr said it should go away on its own (which it did), but it was really painful for a few weeks. It was like having extra skin around the scar.
Just rest as much as you can, if it goes on more that a couple of weeks I would ask about antibiotics as there may be some infection.

you might need antibiotics if you have an infection, so maybe get it checked out if you can.

wow, my doctor gave me and DH strict orders of "NO sexual intercourse" for 6 weeks. I will have an appointment with my OB GYN before that so will have to get the OK from him before anything.
Could you have possibly done a little damage to some of the stitches while being with your OH?If I were you I would schedule an appointment with your doctor and get it checked out to make sure everything is still intact. Hope everything is ok.

i got told by my midwife to bath with a few drops of lavender in the bath or if you have a shower i suppose getting some boiling water and putting drops in there and standing close might do the trick, hope you get your self sorted ! and i didnt have sex for four months as i didnt really feel ready down there so good luck !!!

yeah they told us no sex for 6 weeks too but my husband was only here for 2 weeks on his military break and we hadn't seen each other for 4 months and wouldn't be seeing each other again for another 2 months... not the best decision but i thought i was healed enough... i guess not lol :\

i'll definitely try lavender and the witch hazel. :] thanks ladies. i'm calling my doctor as soon as they are open to get an appointment because i couldn't really sleep last night at all.
