When do baby blues become PND?

I had the baby blues for a few days and was crying for no reason then. Then I was fine again for a few days.

Then... a few days ago, a horrible family situation happened and I have been feeling down since. It's day three now and I wake up feeling low and blue and I'm still crying at the drop of a hat.

The midwife came round today and asked how my mood was and I nearly burst into tears. The midwife is a bringer of doom (last visit she suggested for NO REASON whatsoever that my stithces may tear open ) and today I kept asking her when I should be worried that my baby blues are developing into something more serious. SHe said, the reason she's asking me if I want a referal is because I could have PND.

The thing is, I know I'm happy, and this sounds strange, but I just don't feel happy right now because of what happened. I know I'm very lucky and in love and have the support of my husband and my mother but due to that family situation thing that happened it's knocked me sideways and I feel really down. I don't know if PND is a fair diagnosis as there is a REASON why I'm feeling down and although it's made worse because of my hormones at present I think it'll hopefully be something that just passes?

I don't fancy going to my GP as I'm tired and breastfeeding constantly and my stitches mean I still can't sit up straight anyway, just wondered if there was any definition of PND? Thanks in advance for your replies.

Awww hun I hope your oki

No advice but If its any consolation my stitches have been burst since day 2 and last night I just cried my eyes out for hours cause they just said I'd have to deal with it

Your probably tired and sore and when your milks in it can make you teary :'( ! Maybe once youre a little more settled and able to do things without something hurting (its pissing me off big time not being able to do anything! I feel so helpless!!) and feeling better you will start feeling better within yourself too =) I would give yourself a little longer and try not to beat yourself up too much about feeling bad cause i know how it feels when you feel like shit and you don't know why - its horrible!

Hope you start feeling happier soon <3 x

I never had PND, but I did occasionally feel low especially when I was tired - I think from what you say that you are just feeling a bit low too - it doesn't mean its PND at all.

There is a good site overcomingpnd - best google for the address as I don't know if I can post link!
It explains it all really well, what to look out for and how to help yourself if you think you may be feeling that way

I hope you pick up soon
