Split stitches

my stitches from my episiotomy have come open and they can't re-sew cause of risk of infection so i just have to deal with it til it heals like this

I am in sooo much pain :'( it stings so bad and i can hardly do anything

anyone else had this happen? how long will it take for it to be bearable?

i thought my horrible labour and birth would be the end of it. now this

x

Hey never had my tear open but it was really sore when i first came home, try sitting on a rubber ring, having a bath with lavender oil and salts. I had 2 second degree tears and it took me about 4 or 5 weeks for them not to be sore. x

Awwww love bunny I'm sorry that must suck I had an episiotomy and 2nd degree tear, luckily the stitches didn't split but it was damn painful (still kinda is!!!).

As the other ladies have said salt and lavender oil baths help, I have 2 a day. Also I had to get in the shower to pee for the first week or so. Also putting a pad in the freezer is meant to be soothing.

I'm not BF so my hospital gave me strong painkillers called diclofenac....OMG they were amazing!!! If your not BF and don't mind taking drugs then I'd suggest asking your GP for some.

I never used anything but pure water or saline soloution for mine (salt and water) and it really helped. Make up a jug of cold water when you pee and pour it on the wound when you wee, rubber ring to sit on in the day helps to and some cooling pads in your knickers might help x

My epis stitches popped too, it's pretty miserable

It took about 2 weeks for it to heal and feel lots better and it's still a little uncomfortable now, 3 weeks later. Get some Lidocaine gel or EMLA cream from the chemist and dab/smear a little on with a clean finger. It'll sting but it's a mild local anaesthetic so will take the edge off the pain when it kicks in. Salt and lavender oil baths, sanitary pads that have been in the freezer are nice and soothing, keep your legs together when sitting or lying to keep the wound together and promote healing.

Els

have you tried a sitz bath?
with Lavender flowers, Comfrey leaves, Sage leaves, Calendula flowers,Rosemary, coarse sea salt and a bit of minced garlic.
brew all the ingredients except the salt as a tea, then add the tea and salt to 6-8 inches of warm bath water.
i sat in this after my birth for 2 weeks and it felt SO GOOD and helped me heal tremendously.

I only have a shower and no eternal it was a miserable labour :'( i had a tiny bit of bleeding at the start of my labour so they all blew it out of proportion and made me stay in hospital after they checked me i was strapped to a monitor and hormone drip (so the pain was 10x worse!) for the whole duration so couldnt move around and did the whole lot including forceps, epitiotomy and stitches without any pain relief apoart from the local anasthetic :'( it was fucking horrible I'm so upset about it the whole thing couldn't have been further out from what I'd planned xxx

If you don't have a bath you could try filling up a big sponge and maybe a drop of lavender in the shower and holding it between your legs. I done this as I always felt like I wanted a good wash but it was too sore and it was quite soothing! x
