Few Questions

my baby boy is now 5 days old and theres questions burning inside me that im not sure on what the answers are, just wondered if you mummies could give me some advice.

firstly when babies cry do they produce tears straight away or is that something that develops.

today hes had his first mustard yellow nappy colour which was a nice consisticy but has been a little squirty with his stools since, quite watery, is that normal

will have some more when i remember lol,
thanxs

i don't think they produce tears right away, i could be wrong though (and i have 4 lol)

About the stool, that can be normal I would just watch it and if it doesn't get a little better call his peditirican it is probably just his body working on getting normal. They all do things like this.

They don't get tears right away..But when they do, it's precious! I can remember so many times telling my sister that the baby cried and for the first time, had real tears! Oh, it's so sad!
The poop sounds great! It should be grainy and yellow and quite watery..Good job Mama!

Expect a few tears if bubba gets sticky eye which is very common, other than that we are at week 4 and only have tears from the sticky eye. Stool sounds perfect - we are breastfeeding and stools are EXPLOSIVE (typically after a fresh nappy has been put on - how do they know to time it so perfectly???) loud, airy, runny and orange. Sometimes with little bits that look like sesame seeds. Apparently it's the perfect poo!

Haha! Stand back! When Evan was that age I got poo splattered on me twice when changing his nappies!

The tears came for the first time after his first lot of injections - heartbreaking!

Apparently the seedy bits in the poo is from the whey and shows that LO is getting the calories (according to mw).

I think I noticed tears around 7 to 8 weeks with my LO, first time I actually like him cry. Don't know when they are actually supposed to produce.

As for the poo...I formula feed and in the beginning his poo's where kinda watery, quite yellow and seedy. I was told it is very normal. Now at 12 weeks old his poo's are a greenish-yellow color and stinky.

Congrats on the birth of your baby boy!!

Babies develop tears at different times. My little girl started getting tears when she cried when she was about 2 1/2 to 3 months old. She still only gets them when she's crying a lot though.

His stools sound just like my Daughter's. A health visitor told me that for the 1st few months as long as they're stools resemble chicken korma there's no need to worry (sorry, tmi!! haha).

thank you for your replies. MW came other day to check us and reassured me on everything. I realised id spent 9 months reading and worrying on nothing other than pregnancy that when suddenly i found myself laid in a hospital bed holding my newborn son i relaised id not read anything about when they are here. So was panic striken lol.
He was 7lbs.13oz at birth and due to him being mucusy and sicky in first few days dropped to 7lbs.1oz. But within two days had gone upto 7lbs.40z.
