Me and my LO had our 6 week check at the same time, perhaps thats why not much notice was taken of me! They asked me if i had stopped bleeding and asked me about contraception and thats it!!! I had a c section and they didnt even look at the scar!

how weird is this! i just had the health visitor round and she was burbling on about the 6 week check and how i need to make one for baby and myself. I said about seeing a woman and she was like, they wont examine you. I was confused and said what about the stitches, and she said no they wont check them thats the midwives job.
I have the midwife coming tomorrow but only cos i got an infection otherwise they would have discharged me from their care last week.
So if they discharge me this week, who checks the stitches?!!!!!

surely they cant just leave me in hope everythings ok?! or can they!

god such conflicting information!!!!!
and i had to clean my sofa cos the HV smelt funny!

x

I got discharged from the midwives on day 13, I've not had my stitches checked once :s

Slack buggers arn't they, will just have to mention it to the doc when I go.

Ive had to demand a postnatal check because apparently they dont do them routinely here at my doctors which I find bizarre! I have mine tomorrow x

My 6 week check was a waste of time really. I was still seeing the triage midwives at the hospital because I had an infection in my C-section wound and I did ask the doc about it and he said to have it dressed, but they owed him a favour so they would do it if I wanted (I was going to the hospital anyway and it was easier than the docs!)

Apart from that he just really asked how I was, checked my vitals and prescribed the pill.

Having said that, I find that particular GP is very good at picking up on stuff you don't actually tell him, so I'm sure he was checking me out more thoroughly than he seemed to be.
