Breastfeeding and first AF??

Hi Ladies,

How long did it take you to get your first AF after LO was born? I have only just finished bleeding and am wondering when to expect my first AF?? I am breastfeeding, not sure if that makes any difference!

Sorry if I am asking a stupid question as im sure it is different for everyone, but would just like an idea!

It varies widely with BF. I got mine at 9 weeks having finished bleeding at 8 weeks and regularly since.

I agree with Peanut, it does vary wildly.

Are you exclusively breastfeeding? I have heard mention of the 6 hour rule, that if your LO goes longer than 6 hours between feeds, you are more likely to get periods and ovulate.

My LO is 6.5 months and still feeds very regularly, and I haven't had a period.

i had only stopped bleeding a week and a half when i got af. at the time i was exclusivly bf

Still waiting here! It definately varies to extremes because I've heard of some women not getting one until up to a year even!

I breastfed my son until 22 months, but got my period back at 11 months.

I exclusively breastfed my daughter and son and af returned with first at 16 months and with son af returned at 8 weeks. Still waiting this time at 12 weeks.

My daughter stopped breastfeeding when she was about 8 months and my first period followed shortly after!
