Prolapse question

I have just developed a prolapse and have been advised to step up my pelvic floor exercises and give it a couple of months - if i don't have any success i will have to have surgery just wondered if anyone knows if the exercises are likely to be effective? I am terrified of surgery!

I have the same and am currently doing physio to strengthen pelvic floor! Best one I've found is to squeeze the muscles very slightly then increase the squeeze then give it all you've got! Hold each squeeze for 10 seconds and make sure you rest at least 10 seconds between each set of squeezes. I usually do 2 lots every hour if I have time and I have noticed a difference. If you are not certain that you are doing them correctly try inserting a finger (gross I know!) and you should be able to feel the muscles working.
You do know that if you have the surgery all further children will be born via a c-section? Ask your GP to refer you for some physio sessions, that should be possible.

How was it diagosed, what were the symptoms - as I think I may also have a prolapse. I've purchased Athena trainer for pelvic floor exercises, bit pricey but seems to be working to strengten the muscles.

My symptom is just that i felt like I had something coming down below, like the feeling of a tampon incorrectly inserted. My doc did an internal and said I have a slight prolapse, she said it feels loose at the front and back so not sure if that means I also have a bladder and bowel prolapse, I have an appt at an incontinence clinic on Wednesday (routine in my area if you have a third degree tear) so I am going to ask thier advice when I go and hope I can get some more information, I have been reading up on prolapse treatment and I am not a happy bunny

Mine is quite mild but my pelvic floor is very weak after my tear. Have just got my appointment through for physio, but a friend of mine has also been for physio - basically they insert a small probe whilst you do the exercises and you can see on the screen how hard the muscles are working - its called biofeedback. I've been told that if the biofeedback doesn't work that well then it is possible to stimulate the muscles down there into action!

I wonder if I can get referred for physio then? i am astonished at the lack of support groups/forums on the internet cos with it being so common you would think there would be loads! I have found mine is ok in the morning but worse the later in the day it gets, seems like that is common.

Thought I'd come and find you here hon! Mine is also worse in the evenings than the mornings, just gravity doing it's thing...

I wasn't offered physio, was just trusting I was doing the exercises correctly. I may just give the next 2 weeks a real effort and if no real improvement go to the docs to talk about physio.

I have been doing my exercises like mad, every time I feed M so I don't forget! My doc said to give it a good couple of months to see if it makes a difference but I am not convinced he didn't just say that to pass time on till Myles is a bit older as he seemed to think I would need surgery
