2nd degree tear question...

I had a 2nd degree tear with my bubba who was born yesterday morning at 2.13am. Came home yesterday afternoon. Anyway i refused to be stitched up as i had problems with DD and they came undone. Anyone else not be stitched up? midwifes seem to frown upon me because i didnt have it and are making me feel really bad! not bleeding from rip, but having a watery blood loss, not much just like a heavy period? just wondering if anyone else going through this? x

I was also stitched up. Only 2 stiches tho through the musle on the inside ouch!! and they told me i could have got away with just the one but to be on the safe side they gave me 2. But they are killing me!!

just out of interest does it not hurt not having stitches.

x

I had stitches but they came undone. The docs advised to leave to heal and it did so really quick.I do recall having watery blood from the wound, its just part of the healing. Just make sure you keep it clean and it should be fine

im really worried, ive gone itchy down there so no idea whats happening down there. Trying to do my pelvic floor thingies lol. Just really sore, not sure if its infected? going to ask midwife to look tomorrow. I cant even get in my bath [too smal lol] so im having a shower and neeling down to spray. I wish i had it stitched up now. Im just worried i wont heal as it was where i was cut with DD and healed okayish then. its only 4days postbirth so thats probs why?

I was stitched with my 3 boys. On the first i got a bad infection and trust me my husband could tell what room i was in just by following the smell. So if your just sore then things are probably ok. But get your doc or someone to check if you are worried. On the other 2 the stitches healed fine. I didn't know that you could say no to stitches.

I refused stitches after a second degree tear... just because I really wanted to be left alone 'down there' after the birth. No one was going to go near me ever again!

I've regretted it since, because my tear took 2 years to heal (!) that's not normal though. I got an ulcer on the end of it which made sex very painful. It's gone by itself now though - just in time for baby 2! This time I'm going to get the stitches - I've got to be brave!
