Exercise after c section

As the title says...when are we allowed? I am seeing my doc this week to check, but figured one of you could probably tell me!

I am dying to do a little bit of pilates to try and start building my tummy muscles back up...I look like a big baggy deflated balloon!

Cheers

Well, I had mine 11 days ago and i've just started to tense my stomach muscles lightly a few times a day and holding them for 5 seconds. Im not saying you should do the same, because it depends on how you're feeling.. but my tummy is feeling alright so im doing what I can manage. I wouldn't do anything heavier than that at this stage though, or you might do yourself an injury. I agree, wait until your check before you go for anymore exercise!

Is your tummy still quite big? mine has a paunch and I still look quite pregnant..

Mine has gone flat at the top, but the bottom is a bit of a mess...!

I can hold a roll of belly in my hand. Which is nice. Makes me feel reeeeal sexy!

I didn't know we weren't suppose to do sit ups until after 12 weeks ive been doing them for the last week and i'm only 8 weeks after the op. Other than that ive been doing a lot of walking.

My stomach seems quite flat in the mornings but really bloats but my night time.

If you've had an emergency c-section you're meant to wait until 10 weeks - of course no one told me that

My daughter was in NICU which was a 15 minute walk from the women's hospital so I was probably doing a lot more than I should've and ended up ripping my wound open. Be careful!

After a week or so I just tried to tense my tummy muscles every time I did something. I still haven't done "exercise" as such apart from I walk for at least an hour every day around a very hilly area.

My friend's a health visitor, and she told me you're only superficially healed at 12 weeks, so she advises only gentle exercise (walking, swimming, gentle cycling etc.) and definitely no abs exercises or trips to the gym until six months.
