Stomach problems since giving birth

I had Phoebe six months ago but since giving birth I have had no end of problems with my stomach. I have been getting really bad trapped wind pains under my left ribs and my stomach makes terrible gurgling noises. It usually happens at night, the pain is so intense it has me doubled over I usually go to the toilet and more often than not it ends up in a bout of diarreah

This doesn't happen all the time I can go weeks with nothing and have no problems to having it every other day. I have had a lot of wind in the day and sometimes it feels like i'm going to have diarreah but I end up just farting

My diet hasn't changed apart from the fact I am now having alcohol again - I didn't drink for over a year as we were trying for a baby. I have always had a bit of a weak stomach which started a few years ago when my parents divorced and the doctor put it down to stress.

Has anyone else had these problems??

I've been the same. Especially before a period. Every month (until maybe this last one) I got awful fut problems the day before. Carrying Byron in his front carrier put a little pressure on my tum as he got big and that made me feel really ill. I have this general undercurrent of feeling really off without there ever being a cause. It has improved though and I am sure you will find the same. I have a hopeless gall bladder so tend to get ill if I eat too much rich food but this has been different and I am sure it's because of my guts rearranging themselves after pregnancy.

Could be IBS? If you had a funny stomach after your parents divorce, the stress could have triggered IBS to start up. I have IBS but the pregnancy hormones shifted it at around 20+weeks and I don't seem to have got it back since (presumably because of breastfeeding hormones). However, I do seem to get really constipated which is awful cos my pelvic floor muscles are still tender and it feels like my recovery goes back a step everytime I struggle to go!

I did think about ibs but I only get diarreah usually accompanied with trapped wind under my left rib, does ibs involve constipation as well?
