Not had baby yet but after birth question!

ok Im sorry for question but this is bugging me and not sure were to post so thought this would eb ok??

When babas born do you yourself get a check up at 6 weeks to make sure everythings gone back to normal?

reason I ask:: With my last one I was led to believe this was the case, (it was mentioned to me by couple people that thats what happens!)

so when he was 6 weeks I booked a docs appointment, I wasnt feelin what you call er right down there and thought this would be the perfect chance to ask (it was a heavy draggin sensation, didnt know if it was normal) anyway,
I went docs and the doc said what can i do for you, I replied here for the 6 week check...

with that he took my son, stripped him, poked him etc, then handed him back said hes fine, then turned to his comp dismissin me!!! I didnt argue and left, still none the wiser as to whether what I was feelin was right or wrong, but didnt have the confidence to ask!
Contraception was never mentioned to me by a m/w or hv so I had also thought the doc would do that, but nope!!!!

Sooo am I wrong to think that you as a person get checked at 6 weeks, or should we be checked, I mean how can we be sure everythings gone back to normal down there?

I have round 12 weeks till my babas due, but was chattin to hubby about this the other day and its been buggin me ever since!!!

thanks !

You are supposed to get checked yes. I didn't ever bother going but I really had no concerns and me and OH are just using condoms.

I was supposed to book two seperate appointments one for baby and one for me. I never booked mine as I didnt have any concerns and we are currently using condoms because I still havent found the courage to get a coil fitted.

We got a letter with our apointment times for me and Nathan.

She gave Nathan a once over like check his heart and eyes and asked if we had any questions or worries about him (HV had done his weight and length and head measurements already)

My appointment she took my blood pressure, asked about contraception, how I was feeling (HV had given me a depression questionaire to fill out before hand) and asked how my stitches were and if I wanted her to check them as they had healed really well so mw and HV had seen them before.

Around this area you dont get a 6 week check for yourself, if you have any concerns you have to see GP seperatley

Check with your MW what the policy is in your area hun

My "check" was at the same time as Violets and all he did was ask if I'm feeling ok and what contraception I wanted.

It was my MW who was checking my stitches/scar and she was happy to discharge me so I didn't think anyone else would bother looking.
