Is it what you expected?

I was just wondering if motherhood is what you expected?

I am struggling to be honest. Didnt realise just how much time taking care of a newborn takes up. I am lucky too as have had my husband off for the last 3 weeks (he goes back on Monday) and plenty of family who help out.

I hope it gets better as time goes on and i get more sleep.

How about everyone else? Please tell me that i am not the only one struggling!

xx

I found some things were as I expected and some not so. Some things were much harder than I'd thought they'd be even though I'd expected them, iykwim, and some things easier. I can tell you that 7 months on things are a lot easier! It gets easier every day as you and your baby learn about yourselves and each other. It gets easier when feeding settles, when they smile, when they sit, with every new thing it all gets a bit easier until it's loads more fun than it is difficult. You'll get there, don't worry, there's so much to learn!

Tbh, ive found it alot easier than i thought it would be, but Maisie is a REALLY good baby!

The hardest part of course is the lack of sleep, but even when she was a newborn she only woke up maximum 3 times a night between 10pm and 7am.. usally 12am..2am and 5am..

She only cries when she wants feeding, and occupies herself most of the time, she prefers to be left alone in her swing or bouncer or laying under her playgym!

Breastfeeding wasnt harder but more time consuming in the early days than I expected it to be. Also didnt expect to be so knackered after birth!

Looking after Ruby has generally been easier than I thought, but with the odd very hard day! However I was expecting to be blissfully breastfeeding with no problem at all, but I found it impossible and had to give up after 2 weeks. I've found it really hard coming up against all the bullying attitudes of various medical professionals about breastfeeding. That was unexpected and not nice!

I had this problem too. I had to give up breast feeding after 10 days as Jake would suck in his top lip and wasn't feeding very well at all. I sometimes think i would have got less crap ofr the MW, HV and breast feeding support officer (yes, my area employs someone spesifically to push breast feeding) if i hadn't have bothered at all!! I got no praise for trying, just shit for 'giving up'! Made me feel like a right failure!

I also struggled with how tired i was after the birth. It took it out of me for about 2 weeks. Wasn't so bad after DS1 but i think that as you get older it gets worse. Stoopid me is gonna try for another one soon ha ha, must be mad!! xx

HI with my first I have to admit that I find it really really hard! My son just screamed the whole time and wanted fed as much as possible and it was extremely draining. It does get easier but is really hard work.

My 2nd has been great thank god!xx

Yeah its what I expected. I've been around kids literally my whole life, so I haven't seen anything yet that I haven't already been around.
