Thanks for all the responses guys. I have to say that i am really struggling at the moment. The main thing is the lack of sleep and the fact that Bethan never seems to be satisfied after a feed and wants more.
My sister has a 1 year old and has been saying that things get easier. I just cant wait to sleep through the night and wake up feeling energised.

Keep telling myself that its all worth it in the end. I love her so much xxx

They do get easier. Even if she doesn't sleep through the night (Amelie still doesnt), your body gets sort of used to it so you can function and make it through a day.

I have been so lucky as Nathan is great....he sleeps well...I think thats why its great, that and hubby works 4 days then has 4 days off so I kinda get a rest for the 4 nights and the day stuff is shared.

BUT I found breast feeding so much more difficult than I ever imagined. But so glad I stuck for as long as I could.

I found that in the begining jut not really knowing what to do with him hard. Like once he was fed and clean as a newborn what to do....

It will get easier...and once they are in their little routine your body adjusts around it. I used to eat ALL the time if I could now I am so busy with Nathan and his routine I have to remember to eat as its not the first time hubby has come in at 8pm and dinner is the first food all day!

Its kind of what I expected as I have worked with looking after babies for a good few year now, so I knew how difficult they can be. But at the same time, I think because I have worked with them I was expecting to know all I needed to when I really don't so it's been a shock to be learning new things. I was expecting it to be hard but I think it's been a little harder than I was expecting, Loving it though.

Its better and easier than I expected. I love every minute of it. She is my world, she is my reason for getting up in the morning. I couldnt be without her. I enjoy the hard work!

I expected to have lots of rough days, lots of sleep deprivation, etc.
I never expected to have a constant battle. And I definitely didn't think I'd be one of the people affected by PND/PPD...

And then I get frustrated with all the "you should do this" "you shouldn't do that" when it comes to trying to soothe my baby. Sometimes it gets really annoying for me having everyone telling me what to do. (I don't mean when I come on here ASKING for help! I mean when mothers, MILs, etc try and give you their opinions when they aren't wanted!)

Definitely worse than I expected.. Sadly!

Nope, not what I expected. I got my ass kicked those first 4-5 weeks. I was exhausted and I felt like a milkmaid, not like someone's mother.
But at 5 weeks, when Simon smiled at me for the first time, I bonded so deeply and now I'm barely remembering all the fatigue of those first weeks. I'm remembering how tiny and sweet he was. Which is how Mother Nature gets you to have more!

Its been much better than I expected, Oliver is so good and only cries when being changed or very hungry. He has awake periods and is happy just in his swing, bouncer or on his play gym. Im so happy and in love with him, it has been so amazing so far. He only wakes twice in the night but we do go to bed late at the moment. When DH goes back to work next week this will change. Things will get easier hun, take care XX

Surprisingly, the thing I thought was going to easy is the hardest bit! Breastfeeding. Evan won't do a deep enough latch, so my nipple bits get bloodied quite badly. I actually had to stop breastfeeding, and we're formula feeding until I can get a breast pump.
