Emergency section pain advice

For the last week ive been getting a strong burning sensation right across my stomach. Its quite painful and happens alot when i get up or turn over in bed. Also ive been having a few period type cramps and just wanted to know if all these pains are normal after a section? My stomach is still very sore to touch and i dont have full sensation there. Feels quite numb really.

I was taking co-codamol (sp?) but i dont find its helping with the pain.

I had a crash section with my LO, that was on January 30th and my stomach is still numb in places now.

The period-type pains you're describing sound like your womb retracting back to normal size-they are annoying and uncomfy but shouldnt last too long.

RE the pain, Im not sure if I can help as I stopped taking my co-codamol after 5 days. STUPID, as it hurt terribly but Im one of those annoying people who hate taking meds. TBH the burning is prob just the scar itself, its a fresh wound and you've just had major abdominal surgery so its going to hurt for a while. . .if you're unsure though just make ann appt with your doc to talk it through.

Congratulations on your little one and hope you're feeling more comfortable soon xx

The burning/pain you're feeling at the incision site is normal, was for me anyway, and was worst when I was changing positions (ie: getting out of bed-laying down to standing). Make sure you take whatever they recommended, be it Advil or Tylenol (not sure the brands over there) on a regular basis, it will help a lot with the pain, you'll still feel it but it makes a difference. Even if you feel alright take the medication!! Or when it wears off you'll be sorry!

You should feel better within a couple of weeks.

Totally agree with Tasha, I had the same type of burning pain you are describing. I was told after the fact that it was because of them being in a hurry that they had torn a bit of my uterus in the hurry to get dd out

My section wasn't an emergency so I'm not sure how much is different, but I didn't have a burning pain, it was more of a sting type pain - felt like it was across the scar inside, outside felt fine.

Also had the period type pains and numbness. Almost 9wks on, the majority of the area is still quite numb but I was told it could take months for the numbness to go.

HTH and hope you feel better soon xx

Thank you for this post!

I have been getting the worst burning pain when going on my side nearly facing front and when geting on all fours - when my belly is facing down basicly, and didnt know if this was normal or what!
Ouch it's the worst!

Am also numbish but it's coming back above and below pubic area, and funnily enough I think my bum is a bit numb too.

Codeine is what I was given along with paracetamol but it causes me to hallucinate so I just takle 1 on a morning.

I know when youre sore and that it's not fun but it feels better to know it's normal (i think so anyway!)

I had pain like that right after while the incision was still "raw". Felt like really bad sunburn.

Mine wasn't emergency, but I did have the burning, and like someone mentionned, it was worse going from sitting to standing, etc. That's normal. If the pain is TOO unbearable I'd suggest going to your doctor about it.

The numbness is normal, my belly is still numb in spots around the incision.

You'll start feeling a little better soon!
