You mainly only have that done here for religious reasons or a medical condition or infection in this country.

On this subject tho, with my first baby being a girl I think it is terrible that when I was in hospital I was not told how to clean his willy properly. Don't get me wrong I am not stupid, but it is something I never thought about til I got home and was changing his bum and had to clean him. So we make sure that Alfie's foreskin is pulled back daily to clean under there, as my sister's LO had to have a circumcision as he got an infection and blockage from not being cleaned properly. So that is a routine of ours now!

I would not have Alfie done at all, I think if he wants that done when he is older for whatever reason then fine, but who am I to say he has that chopped off if there is no good reason for it! If people cleaned them properly and men alike, you wouldn't even have to consider whether or not to have it done!

As a mum I find it no hardship what so ever keeping him clean! x

LOL that is some TMI info for us USA Girls. I dont know why USA guys get imbarrased by not being done, When its happy you cant tell the difference.

As far as infections because you dont have it done, well I guess that is were how well you (a guy) takes care of himself. So if we ever have a Son, It wont be done
You are right Suz, and un-circumsised one is much more sensitive to the touch and much more than someone who had lost their hood! x

I was told by my midwife (i think) that you should not try to retract the foreskin back untill they are over 3yrs old.

i certainly wouldnt have had it done to Ewan unless there was a medical reason.

So it still seems common in the US but not so in the UK. It seems that in the US they give numerous medical reasons for it, but int he UK those reasons are not valid enough...but it does make u wonder, why lil boys would be born that way, surely it is for a reason and has it's purpose...thus it wouldn't be necessary to make any changes to them...sigh still confused but your opinions are definitely helping me come to some conclusion.

Im having this "discussion" with my fiancee right now. Im against it, he wants to do it, citing "cleanliness" as a deciding factor ...I'll tell you this much... is a million times better with the foreskin intact!!!

Not to be gross but being with someone who is circumcised and someone who is not. I think the sex is better when they are not. Dont tell my hubby! shhh! lmao
how odd, I have found it the other way round, perhaps its not the foreskin, its the man who makes the sex what it is

I think its personal preference.

If we have a boy we will not have him circumcised. DH "half" circumcised IOW they made a slice in the foreskin, but did not remove any of it. Makes it easy to access the glans for cleaning, but also keeps it covered and sensitive. We will discuss options for that with doc when we get closer to delivery if we have a boy bump .

BTW I agree with intact man is MUCH better than non intact.

I totally agree with people having their own opinion..... But on the whole hygiene thing.... well, my little boys could get and ear infection from them not being clean, or threadworm from not cleaning under their nails... but I wouldn't go as far as to chop their ears or fingers off to stop it happening. My eldest Lewis, went through a period in his 2nd year, where his wily would balloon quite big when he wee-d. I read up on this, and subsequently went to the doctor, concerned that this may mean his skin hadn't seperated properly. The doctor encouraged gradual pulling back of the foreskin when he was in the bath. He was quite shocked that I thought this was going to mean he'd have to have a curcumcision. I showed Lewis what to do, and it's part of his dily routine now (he's 5), to pull back and clean. sorry if TMI.. but I think to worry about infection isn't a valid reason... thats a simple matter of personal hygiene... Also... having the little boy circumcised because 'it increases sensation' or 'looks better'.... why would you be thinking of that for your child?? If it's 'because everyone else has had theirs done', why encourage a peer pressure society. Again... I know it's a personal opinion... but shouldn't it be the childs personal decision? or doctors?

relatives of mine have had to have it done when they have been about 8-12 years due to their foreskin being too tight my oh could also do with having it done so i think if i was ever pregnant with a boy i would consider it because tight foreskin runs on both sides of the family but maybe i would ait until they were 3 and 4 and it was more formed. If it wasnt for medical reasons i wouldnt have it done. I remember watching nip tuck once and the son of one of the plastic surgeons was becoming sexually active and was really angry that he hadnt been circumsised so it does tend to be a lot to do with culture ans where you live.
