PND - therapy?

After being diagnosed with PND ages ago I've started one to one cognitive behavioural therapy sessions things with a nurse. I'm just wondering if anyone else has any experience of therapy for PND as after feeling really positive after my assessment my first session last week was a huge disappointment.

The nurse I saw didn't seem to have read anything from my hour assessment session and after talking about one thing for half an hour was going to end the session (she'd said it was an hour session) until I burst into tears (due to the fact that the session had been so disappointing and I hadn't spoken about anything I needed to I think).

Is it usual for them to not read the assessment paperwork? Has anyone switched therapy person? I don't want to waste a load of time with this nurse if she's not going to be any good (she's a nice person, just feels like she's not the person to get me through this as I keep thinking about all the things I think she should have done and said!!).

Please feel free to pm me if you don't want to answer on here. Thanks for you help xxx

Awww poor Alex - he'd put up a fight for lylah too I think!

I've had a similar assessment session for Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome (so not necessariliy the same?) but am then having sessions with a specialist psychologist at a mother and baby unit - although I have to wait 6 weeks for my first appointmnet because there's a big waiting list. Do they have specialist units by you that you might be able to be referred to?

6 weeks is ages LuluBee, it's great you're seeing a specialist psychologist though - I'm sure they'll be able to give you any help you need x

It is a specialist parent & baby unit - she rang this morning to say that she's got someone coming in on crisis today so can't see me for over two weeks. I understand the need to see the person on crisis but feel over two weeks is a bit long to go before getting any more support. Going to speak to my hv I think.

6 weeks is a long time but it only really affects one part of my life and so i'm fine to wait really. I'd speak to your hv about it, or perhaps the doctors again - they might decide that you could be referred to a more general (but more reliable) service?
