Blood loss following section

Hi all

Just a question re blood loss. My gorgeous son is now 12 days old. My loss has been a bit on and off - not too heavy til today. The last hour or so I have had to change pads after feeling it trickling ( sorry ! ) out of me.

I am breastfeeding and baby has been hanging off me for past 24 hours so am hopin its just my uterus contracting and not a post partum bleed...

I havent seen any clots, just bright red blood..

Has anyone else had similar???

Mine did this, although I didnt manage to bf. It seemed to have settled down at about 6 1/2 weeks and then a few days later I started bleeding bright red blood again. It felt like it was pouring out (sorry tmi). I phoned the docs and they prescribed antibiotics. I don't know whether it was an infection or not, but it stopped completely at about 8 weeks.

I found sometimes after a feed I'd get more blood, as well as if I was doing a bit too much! I'd go a few days with basically no bleeding at all, and then I'd get some red blood, etc.
I spoke to my OB who told me that it's not really off too much concern unless you're losing a LOT of blood, and clots the size of golf balls.

Try taking it easy and see if the blood slows down. Then you know you're just doing a little too much!
