Prefolds v Terry towelling

I was wondering what is best to use. I did get 6 terry towels, but i have heard alot of people saying they use prefold.
But which ones would you recommend?

How often on average do you change a prefold and are they better at absorbing wee than terrys???

And are they any better?

my LO's not her yet but from looking in shops I have gone down the prefold route with nappi nippas to help keep them in place. They just look less bulky. I've also got some muslins for the early days to use like a terry towel but with less bulk.

I can't tell you about absorbancy though, hopefully some one can because I'd like to know too. Also how absorbant a muslin is

I didn't give terry squares much of a chance tbh as I really didn't like them from the off. Prefolds, like Bambino Mio or Mothercare Smart Nappy are much more absorbent (the SN in particular) and less bulky on a newborn.

Personally I prefer the terries squares as you can change the fold as the baby grows.

I used terry squares with Charlotte until she came out of nappies, she had them on both day and night and they were great, the absorbency was good, I don't think we had more than a couple of leaks in all the time we used them, just because there old fashioned and cheap they still do the job.

I've gone with a mixture of both, I got 12 prefolds (bambino mios) and 10 bamboo terry squares. The wraps I brought for the terry's you can either use with terry + nappi nippa or fold the terry as a prefold with it or use a normal cotton prefold. Plus the terry squares I can use as booster pads in my fuzzi bunz or cut them up later for smaller booster pads.

Find and share local baby and toddler groups.

Terry squares are what everyone used to use here before disposables were invented lol, they are flats and traditionally made of towelling but you can get them in bamboo these days.
