Comforting/helpful comments

Anyone say anything comforting/helpful during your time or after a loss?

My sister gave me a hug, and through her tears said she would be there for me. It felt real. I lost someone important, and she recognized that.

My husband, who is a fairly unemotional man, gave me a hug and said that he was so sorry...and just let me cry in his arms.

I haven't suffered a loss so I really can't answer your question. I am glad to hear that it sounds like you have a good support system in your sister and husband

A great big

I also found this site more than supportive as other people understand exactly how you feel and many have been in the same place.

I never told anyone really. Just my husband. Well, he knew it was happening before I did and made me go to the hospital.

He just recognised what I was going through - and described to me how he was feeling about the whole thing - it felt so comforting that he understood the magnitude of what we had lost - a baby - and that we were grieving for that baby together.

Sometimes, being listened to, I found, was more comforting than being talked to... if that makes sence to anyone else?

I'm glad we never told anyone - I feel I would only have been hurt by anything said by anyone who wasn't going through what I was. They wouldn't undersand.

Exactly. This is the first place I have talked about my miscarriage outside of my marriage, and it has been so much easier and more helpful than I had ever imagined - precisely because other people understand and are going through / have gone through the same things.

More for you loss, I'm so sorry...
