If things are not good on Fri, they have said it's unlikely that I'll have a D & C but medical management is prob option they'll give me. I know a little about this but what does it involve, is it oral or a pessery? Do I have to go into hosp or can I do it at home? Is it a painful way of doing it? am supposed to be 9 weeks today but as u all know the sac was emtpy. ???? Getting scared now. xxx
Hi there, I had medical management starting on Thursday last week, I was just under 8 weeks and had one sac which appeared empty and another possible smaller one which had some cells in (could have been twins but will never know now)
In answer to your questions, I presume the same treatment is used for everyone? I had an oral tablet which I had to have given by the nurse, just called in to the EPAU and took it, then 36 hours later I had to go into hospital where they inserted 4 small pessaries to start my contractions, 6 hours later I had the same drug but in oral tablet form (2 tablets)
I stayed in hospital for 4 and a half hours as I was scared what the pain and bleeding would be like and the hospital is a long way from my house - but I could have gone home after the pessaries if I had wanted to and they would have given me the oral tablets to take with me.
I felt better at home as although I had a private room with its own bathroom I just wanted to be in my own home. The bleeding was quite bad, with lots of clots which was quiet upsetting, they check each one to see if you have passed the sac and I didn't so I am hoping it has broken down and come out since?! The pains were very similar to labour pains, I didn't have any painkillers for a few hours and when I did they didn't work but once I got home I used a wheat bag heated in the microwave and that was quite good, the pains lasted for the duration of the drugs - 12 hours in total but were not unbearable. I have read some peoples accounts of their experience and they have only had short periods of contractions though so am thinking I was just unlucky!!
I have to wait 3 weeks for my hormone levels to get back to normal and take a pg test, if it is negative then it was successful and everything is gone but if positive it means there is some tissue left and I will prob need a D & C
Hope that helps you to decide xx

Thanks for that, it's just like I can't move on anywhere till Fri. Then I have to make all these decisions and even though I have an amazing husband who is my best friend no one else can go through it all, it's smething you got to do by yourself. x
I know the waiting is a killer, my hubby was and is brilliant, he has been so strong for me through all of this and helped me to cope even though i know he is devastated, I know what you mean though, they don't have to go through all the physical stuff, that is why i feel the need to come on here cos all you girls know how hard it is to go through this.
good luck with whatever route you go down, none of them are easy but you will get through this
A similar thing happened to me in 2006. The baby's heart stopped at 10 weeks although I did not bleed etc. I took a pill to soften the cervix on Friday night and went into hospital on Sunday morning. The nurse placed the pessaries inside and they told me to collect everything in a bedpan. I was in a lot of pain for 4 or 5 hours and passed what looked like a large jelly and lots of clots. It was a difficult experience but you must remember that your mind, body and spirit need to begin healing and this is the start of that process. I am now 13 weeks pregnant and looking forward to a very different experience this time around. Take care of yourself and stay strong x x x
I had cyotec twice(that softens the cervix) one b4 d & c and one by itsself to get rid of the what hadnt in the op. TBH it was easier than expected, very mild cramps, tho i only took oral ones
I will keep checking to see how it all goes with u
