update

hi ladys
well filled 4 pads so far today and 2 large clots (sorry), the contractions are still coming strong
went doctors this morn and he scared the crap out of me by saying, its not normal to bleed that much and i should be in hospital, i bleed more than that when i have af, i only went for pain killers as the co-codomol wasnt touching it, and after his half hour of waffeling he still diddnt give me anything

is it normal to bleed so heavy with a 9 week miscarrage, and how long does it last
love
donna

Hi chick, I would say what you are experiencing is normal, I was shocked at the amount of blood I lost, even before the medical intervention I had a massive gush of blood and then ran to the loo and the loo seemed to be full of it! once I had had the stuff to start my contractions they gave me cardboard bed pans to put over the toilet and catch what came out, I had to ring my buzzer for them to collect and check them and I used eight of them, each one had loads of blood and clots in, and I was using pads too!! I wouldn't worry too much, the advice I was given is not to seek help unless you are soaking an ultra pad more than once an hour. I am still having some small clots now, I am sooooo sick of it!

How are you feeling otherwise?

PS have you got one of those wheat bags or a hot water bottle, I found that was the only thing that helped at all with the contractions, painkillers just didnt do a thing

PPS Your doc was a man? what do they know LOL!!!

hi hun
just went to toilet to change pad and as soon as i stood up the pad was full, sat back down on loo and a huge clot came away but it looked like the sack and placenta, the pains are still there but only very very small cramps, nothing like they were half an hour ago, does that mean is almost over, and was that sudden gush of blood because the sack was coming out
love donna

Hi...

Sorry for your loss

I think your bleeding is probably normal... With my miscarriage i was 10 wks and had soaked 5 pads in 1hr... my doctor sent me straight to hospital... the bleeding slowed right down within a few hours of passing my baby and i discharged myself that night !

My bleeding lasted about 8 days... with about 6 of them being heavier than my normal period... and i passed alot of clots over the first 4 or 5 days... then i spotted for a few days

I had a lot of pain during my miscarriage and no painkillers worked for me either... i was given painkillers at the hospital but they werent a great help... think they were only paracetamol and co codamol... days later i was still in agony... with some cramp and a really sore pain in my cervix... was agony to sit, walk or move... i told my midwife about it and she was no help at all... She asked my why i was asking her about the pain and not a doctor Least she could have done was asked a doctor for me... I ended up just putting with the pain and being miserable for days coz no1 would help.
