Frustrated

I am feeling rather frustrated today. On the 8th I was in the ER with a threatned miscarriage, I didn't actually loose the baby until the 9th, but then the ER calls me all frantic telling me that they forgot to give me my RoGam shot and that I wouldn't be able to have future children with my husband if i didn't get the shot. So I rush back to the Emergency room, spent like 3 or 4 hours in the ER to have this 911 emergency shot I needed, and so now everything is skipidy.

My question is....if they knew I had the negative antibody in my system because of the negative RH factor, and they KNEW I needed the shot or else I would loose the baby....Couldn't they have just given me the shot when I was in the emergency room with a threatned miscarriage before I actually lost the baby?!? Where are people's brains?!?!

I don't know it would have made that much of a diffrance, but I will always have to wonder.

Does anyone else know anything about this?

Thanks

-Addie

Hey there - so sorry for your loss. Am afraid that I have no real knowledge of the ins and outs of whether this would have prevented your mc. There is a chance that the injection was actually incase your babies blood had mixed with yours - in these cases if you did not have the injection your body could have produced antibodies that would prevent you carrying another baby in the future and is pretty much irreversible - the injection would prevent these anti-bodies being formed - here's a link:

It's awful that you've been left with one giant "what if" - we all have plenty of those after a mc without something like this. I would get a 2nd opinion at your dr's - get as much info as you can to take to your appt and quiz them about proper procedures - even if just to reassure yourself.

Hope you get some answers and am sure there are folks on here more clued up about this on here.

Take care

It is only if you have a negative RH factor. :/ I have O- Blood and my husband has A + Blood which causes complications. To my understanding not everyone has this issue and (from the doctor I went to and my doctor) it is not all that common. The doctor I went to in the ER (This was early last year) But I'm pretty sure they didn't have a brain. They had to test me three times to be sure what I was telling them was correct because it was that uncommon that they saw something like that in the ER. :/

What is your husband/boyfriends blood type? There may not be any complication at all. I don't pretend to be an expert, but deffiantly go see your doctor and get tested if you can!

Now I have a much better doctor and so any future little babies will be in the best of care. Which is a great stress relief.
