Confused and going maaaaaad!

Hi all,
I had a m/c last month, had my blood done after and hcg hormone was read at 19 which doc said was going down nicely and 'not pregnant'.
I then did an HPT to check and it was neg!

However.... We tried again this month and yesteday I did an HPT and there was a faint positive!!! I'd be thrilled except I have brown bloody spotting!!!!!!!

I am so confused!

I could be preg, but the spotting isn't looking good. Or could it be old hormone?! But can a preg test read anything lower than 19 - which was my last blood test? Not to mention I did an HPT two weeks ago which was big fat neg!!!

Oh God...what we women go through1? Any ideas?Xxx

would all depend on sensitivity of the test youre using if you have a faint positive now why not try clearblue in 24-48 hrs to double check hope it is your BFP spotting in early pregnancy is common and nothing to worry about usually unless it is bright red and accompanied by pain hope that helps you good luck xx

Well i know for sure that to be considered " not pregnant" ... hcg levels need to be 5 or under.

Most preganancy tests pick hcg levels from 25 .. except the super senistive ones which are 10.

I would go to the doctor so you know for sure... get a blood test done and a check... only that way you will have peace of mind ... good luck
But did you get a follow up blodd test to confirm that they were coming down and down.

With my MC my gnya di it till my levels were 2.5 , and then when she did a scan and noticed i was ovulating.

A pregnancy test that has a sensitive level of 50 can still show a faint line for a hCG count under just not clear I guess. The more sensitive the test is the more darker the line.

Did they not test you until your levels were 0 then?

I know however different hospitals class 2/5/10/20/25 or under as 'not pregnant' wish they would all stick to the same guidelines.

Definately go & see GP as the girls suggested.

Spotting if pregnant can be perfectly normal - implantation and other things can cause this sometime no explanation (which happened to me).

Thanks girls. My doc did one blood test for hcg it was at 19 and he said, yes that's going down and left it that!
I then did a HPT myself and it was negative... that's why I am confused cos now it is pos and it's the same brand.
I guess it could still be old hormone...just wish AF would hurry up if that's the case!!
Thanks x

Hi Shocked&amazed,

We apoke a while back in the first trimester forum.. I also suffered a MC last month and really have everything crossed for you. I hope this is the news youv'e been waiting for!!

With regards to the brown discharge i think that might just be related to the MC as i still get some it now too... ?

I take it you didnt wait till your next period to try again? I havent waited although they advise you too..never know i might get a BFP too!!

Let me know how you get on and the best of luck!! x

Hi Cazza
Thanks for message, and really am sorry about your loss too.
No I didn't wait... naughty aren't i? The doc told me to wait two cycles but i figured my last loss was very early and so thought I'd be naughty and try again...I may regret that if this all goes wrong too... but it felt right at the time. You just long to be pregnant again, don't you?
I hope you get a BFP too!!! Stay in touch and let me know how you go What day are you on now? I am only day 26 but have shortish cycles so got my first faint bfp three days ago with an early test and now a much stronger one today - came up in two secs and is almost as dark as the test line. So am so hoping this works out.
keep in touch and best of luck to you, you deserve it!xxx
