I had a D&C on the 27th October, now nearly 4 weeks later i have no period. Pregnancy test done at home this morning was a BFP so went off to the docs his test was a BFN. He said it was unlikely that i was pregnant again already, which apparently leaves the option that im still pregnant a twin pregnancy where they have only removed one. I have to wait a week, i mean god a whole week to find out if/what is going on. It was a hard enough to go through not to mention my so called bf left me this week too. How do i cope with the waiting. What do i do if im pregnant either again or still. I feel completely lost and confused and very say right now.

I'm sorry for what your going through. Did the doctor tell you it could be a twin? I would have thought the D&C would get everything, they generally try to be thorough getting the lining, etc. Could it just be that the pregnancy hormone was still in your body when you took your test? If they were both urine tests, maybe yours was just more sensitive than the doctor's test (and there is supposed to be more hormone first thing in the morning). I would call the office to ask these questions, so you can get as good an idea as possible of what's going on - it may help get through the week.

Yes it was the doctor who suggested that it might have been a twin. I hadn't even thought of that option until he said it. He said it was possible that only one was in the uterus and the other was in a tube or else where. According to him all the hormones should of been out of my system by at the latest a week after the D&C. Im sending my best friend pregnancy test shopping tomorrow as he knows damn well there is little chance of me leaving it a whole 7 days until i do another lol

Sorry for what you are going through. I too think the D&C would have cleared everything because they remove the lining where implantation takes place. If there is a twin in a tube, that is not good and so maybe you could ask for a scan. Also, as the test was a BFN at the surgery, sounds like you could have low levels of HCG from the preg. Also ask for HCG tests if you can.

Saying that, miracles do happen. I read an amazing story recently (wish I could find the article) where a woman who had tried many years for a baby became pregnant from IVF. She had a scan which showed no heartbeat and so had a D&C. A few days/weeks later, she was having strong preg symptoms. Doc contacted her to say that the fetus had not been removed. She had a scan and there was a heartbeat. I was blown away by that story.

I hope this isn't the case, but have they ruled out a partial molar pregnancy? I had a D&C and because the pregnancy was partial molar stil had HCG for a long time afterwards as it takes a while for it to go down. It is strange that the dr's test was different to yours as usually the blood tests are more sensitive. Hope you get some answers soon as waiting is very hard. xx Sam

Ive just had to Google molar pregnancy as i idnt have a clue what it was. Nothing was said when i had my scan 4 days before the D&C so im guessing that everything looked normal then. I think im probably going to go back to the docs friday if i get another BFP then and ask to go for a scan to see whats going on.
