Am I miscarrying?

I am so confused at the minute. I mc at 17wks in feb and it all came as a shock and I didn't for a minute know I was miscarrying and when it happened it all happened very quickly.

I'm now 12 weeks and have been bleeding on and off for 7 weeks, been for 4 scans already and each time have seen the heartbeat, last scan was 3 weeks ago.

Yesterday I started bleeding really heavy, bright red and cramping, not constant but more so when I was up and about and it hurt when I went to the loo. I had no clotting except for 1.45am this monring, it was quite a big clot sort of mis shaped but I was half asleep and really didin't think it could have been my bean. This morning the bright red bleeding has gone, it's more like brown now and I'm not cramping. I have no idea what to expect if I am miscarrying.

I would think I would have a few clots rather than just one?
How long does the bright red bleeding last?
How soon after starting bleeding did you lose bean?

I'm sorry to ask such questions which are more than likely very difficult for you to answer right now but would appreciate any advice.

Hope you are all doing ok x

I cannot say for sure but I would suggest going to ER immediately if your doctor is unavailable (even then it is likely they would tell you to go to ER)

My personal experience I felt no pain and bled only for a few days and not a large amount of blood. Others have said they felt tremendous amount of pain (that felt like they were giving birth)
My bleeding lasted for 4 days, on the paper I have received by the hospital about miscarriage, they said that it should last about a week to a week and a half (Each person is different.) It just says if you are bleeding more than 2 weeks, than you need to go back.

But my advice for now is to go to ER!

I really hope from the bottom of my heart for the best.

Hi

first i hope all is ok for you, i dont know the answer i can only say what happened to me 9 weeks ago...

I wiped and had very pale pink watery ??? hmm i thought 11 weeks 5 days into preg.

went to & e panicked they wouldnt scan me said nothing to worry about sent me home.

bled a bit more but again watery but more red went to gp who said threatened miscarage.

I found the more i moved about the more i bled but this would be true of a period!!!

it wasnt a bleed more spotting say when i went to the toliet didnt really need to wear a towel.

i passed a small lumpy bright red clot the morning of the scan not alot but it did make my heart sink.

i had lost bevan weeks before according to the scan.

My friend and sevral other family memebers bled throughout the first trimester and have healthy babys its something like 75% of women will bleed in first trimester and of them only a small percentage go onto miscary..

Keep hope stay strong i wish you the best of luck!

Thank you both for sharing your experience and I'm so sorry for your losses, I appreciate your taking time to share this when it is all so raw still - I understand how devastated you must be feeling x

i would go straight to the hospital hun, they may not have all the answers you are after (as its a weeknend and maybe no one to scan you), but maybe able to give you more of an idea. Everyone is different and each miscarriage is different, i pray you are still pregnant. Good luck with everything xxxx

Thanks hun, I called the EPAU and spoke to a nurse on the wards, they said no point in coming up unless bleeding gets heavier and pain becomes worse to a point where I need to take something for it. I have my dating scan on Wednesday morning so will hold out till then.
The bright red blood has started again and I'm cramping again now, I think it's inevitable and totally expect to miscarry.

I hope thats not the case hun I really do. Have you got someone there with you? I did most of mine alone which was awful. Don't do anything till Wednesday rest, relax and put loads of cheesey films on. put comfy clothes on or stay in pjs. Do what ever feels best for you. Maybe see if they can change you scan to monday? Wednesday is a long time to wait. lots of hug xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx if you need to talk I am here

yeah, have my girls and OH thanks, to be honest though I'd rather just be alone, I was the same last time, I wouldn't speak to anyone or want to be around anyone for days after.
I should try and be more positive but my loss last time makes that near on impossible and I'm so hardened from that that this time, I'm ok about it all and feel guilty for feeling this way.

Don't feel guilty everyone handles things in their own way, I did most of it on my own my ex was 300 miles away and I told no one until last friday when I eventually cracked. I needed my friends support and would not have been able to cope with out her. Just take your time and do whatever feels right for you, remember to talk it through with your oh he will be hurting too, but do it when you are ready. Remember you can talk on here, I found this site last night wish I found it a month ago xxx

I'm so sorry you have to go through this after what you have been through. Life is so unfair. I really do hope that wednesday brings good news. I can understand the way that you are feeling too- you have to harden yourself somewhat after what has happened, you'd be unable to cope otherwise.

Best of luck, I've got my fingers crossed for wednesday.
