Totally gutted!!

I don't really know where to start...
Should be around 9 weeks pregnant, had light bleeding since I found out I was expecting, had my 4th scan today after insisting something was wrong as I didn't believe the bleeding was right.
After the sonographer spent some time looking at the screen she told me how sorry she was but the baby had died. I feel heartbroken. It turned out the baby stopped growing at 7+4 weeks.
I have opted to have it surgically removed as I don't think I can cope with passing it naturally. Although it won't be done til next Monday so I may pass it before then!
Does anyone know what to expect after the surgery and how long does it take for your body to return to normal afterwards?
Thanks, Kim x

Just wanted to say hi and let you know the same thing happened to me today. Im at 11 weeks and on the scan she could find no heartbeat she said the bean stopped developing around 9 weeks. Im gong in for my procedure tomorrow morning, and still have next to no bleeding, no cramps - this happened so silently.
Thinking of you in this loss and wish you all the best!

Hi

I'm so sorry for you both. I miscarried naturally (missed miscarriage also; but opted forb the natural route) so don't have experience with the surgery but I hope someone else who has gone for that will let you know their experiences.

Im so sorry for your loss I opted for the surgical route also after trying to decide for a few days i decided it was the best option for me.I was given a microprosotal (sp?) tablet to take at 5am the morning of the op which actually started the mc quite quickly. At 7am i was admitted to the hospital. The op was quick and the nurses were very kind, the most painful part was them removing the needle from my hand.I was given a cup of tea and was home by 5pm after a long nap. Most people experiance pain and cramping for 7-10 days afterwards and i would recomend getting soluble solpadiene as i found no other over the counter painkillers helped at all.If you dont feel better by day 7 or dont feel the pain is normal then dont hesitate to ring the ward or your gp.I got to day 8 post op before i went to my gp complaining i was still in a lot of pain and was sent back to the hospital to find i had an infection. Its rare aparently but even still a 7 day course of antibiotics and i was feeling much much better and was told there was no long term damage or anything like that. Its now been nearly 3 weeks since i had the op and i feel almost myself again physically and thats even with the infection so you should be feeling better pretty soon but everyones differant i think.Thinking of you and good luck tomorrow and sending hugs

So sorry for your loss

I've had 3 ERPC's/D&C's and the op itself is fairly quick and painless, like you I didn't find out until a scan showed no heartbeat each time.......unfortunately the emotional aspect is not so easy but it does get easier I'm here if you need to chat xx

So sorry hun, ive been there bak in July this yr so i understand what ur feeling its the worst place on earth mentally to be at & im so sorry for ur loss. The procedure itself is quick and i found my body to heal really quickly afterwards i had my AF exactly 4 weeks afterwards, My emotional state of mind didnt heal quite so quick and i still have days now when i think of my angel twins & have a little cry . I also had a natural miscarrige last week & im hoping my body will get back to normal again as quick as last time so i can ttc again as i am desperate to be a mummy!!
so i now have 3 angel babies it is so hard sometimes to think how easy sum people get pregnant and carry to term with not a care in the world but i know for me i am always going to worry now no matter how many times i get pregnant i will be afraid of miscarriage im sad i will never enjoy our scans & having a pregnant tummy because of me being so frightened. Sorry to waffle on your thread hun Im always here if u need a chat

Take care of yourself ok Lov Caz x x

i know what you mean - i see happy, contented women with giant bellies and i am afraid i wouldn't be able to breath easy the whole time, until i heard a shocked and screaming healthy infant. not that the worry ends there, but i imagine that the worry involved in mothering differs somewhat from the worry of possibly not mothering.

Thank you all for your nice comments.
It's so sad that we are all going through the same heartbreak but it does make it a little easier knowing that I am not the only person going through this, if you know where I am coming from. xx
