Hi all - new here, lost my bean today

Had a bit of bleeding late last night, Im at 11 weeks, but it was not fresh red blood, more dried up brownish and watery discharge. No pain, no cramps. Stopped bleeding after an hour. Went in for emergency scan this morning on my OB/Gyn's advice and unfortunatley our bean hadn't made it. No heart beat and it stopped developing around 9 weeks
I was devastaded - have felt great throughout the pregnancy although I got a little worried about a week ago when my ms suddenly disapeared and I had felt so crappy before. Doc said it was one of these silent miscarriages and rather then waiting for a natural passing of everything Im adviced to go in for d&c tomorrow.
We are very sad it turned out this way and Im afraid it will happen again. We have tried for a while and this would be our first one, hubby is 43 and Im 37 (B-day 2 days ago...).
I guess Im not alone here and if you feel you have a story to share - please do, I want to believe things will work out in the end.
Thanks for listening!

Hi

I am really sorry for what has happened. It is a lot more common than the medical profession lets on. My miscarriage was similar but I only started getting the signs anything was wrong at 15 weeks; and because I have kids already and my GP muffed up my referral I was still awaiting my dating scan, but the baby passed on at 9 weeks. Aside from a lack of morning sickness; which I had even when things were apparantly still going ok (and with my other pregnancies it started very strongly from as early as 4 weeks); I otherwise had very strong pregnancy symptoms still and a strong positive on the test I did on the morning I had the scan to break the bad news; so you can imagine how shocked I was. Unusually the next day after everything came out it was a negative but more often you will get a faint positive for 3-4 weeks. We decided to opt for the natural option and then if nothing happened within two weeks we would consider the ERPC, we wanted to see if things happened naturally as I am not keen on surgery and my husband would have been extremely worried. I think psychologically I needed to know there was no hope and also I took natural prostglandins i.e. starflower oil the next morning and by the evening everything was done and dusted. I had a tiny piece of possible retained products at my scan two weeks later and the odd bit of spotting here and there as my body sought to expel it but after that everything was all gone and I got my period back exactly six weeks after getting the news. Still I can understand why some would go for the surgical option as the waiting would be the worst part for me too.

Sophie x
