anyone with shoulder pain after 2 weeks of Ectopic surgery?

Hello gals

I had an ectopic pregnancy and was operated on 25th Sep throught Keyhole. I was told that I may have shoulder pain because of the CO2 used in my tummy but I am still having worst ever shoulder pain after 2 week of the surgery. The pain gets worse if I walk or do any work with right hand.

Any suggestions? I went to see my GP and he prescribed the strongest pain killer patches which I don't want to use.

Thanks

It is true that the co2 used gives you shoulder pain after the surgery and it can last up to a week. Due to the surgery you can also get trapped wind the nerves run through your shoulder and thats why some times you feel it there. I would take some painkillers as you are more likely to move, which would help the co2 or trapped wind move/reabsorb. If you are in pain and do not move/use your arm the process will be slower. I would also try peppermint and arnica both of which you can get from health food shops. They will help wind and healing.
Best wishes and let us know how you get on.

Wow! Someone finally replied! Thank you so much. I am taking pain killers and Peppermint tea too. I went to A&E on Monday and they did an X-ray which came back with some abnormalities and consultant saw some swelling on the muscels too. I am going to the shoulder clinic next week and then to Fracture clinic. Doctor said there are two possibilities. 1 It may happen because of the GA and 2 it may have happened due to an injury after surgery when the moved me from the theater to recovery and then to ward.

Thanks- will let you know how I get on.

I don't have an answer for you but was just about to post myself because I am having pains after my keyhole ectopic surgery on 30th September. I had a large corpus luteum cyst on my left ovary and the ectopic was in my right tube but they managed to save everything. I only needed painkillers for the first 5 days or so after but then yesterday the pain in my ovary and lower back started up again.
Hope you feel better and get some answers soon...
