D&C or Medication?

OK, deep breath, I have had a MMC. Im about 9 weeks since LMP, the sac is about 6+5. Its not "shifting" on its own as yet and my thoughts are obviously turning to the medical route as I want to get on and get going again. I will wait for next week, but dont want to go much longer.

Should I go down the Medication route or D&C route? Anyone have any thoughts, experiences they dont mind sharing (need to hear it how it is!!)

Anyone know whats best for getting back to TTC quickest? and what are the risks?

Sorry for so many questions....couldnt sleep last night after finding out and had so many things and questions in my head!!

hi there,
i am so sorry about your loss. i had a d&c in april at 7+4. i couldn't face taking the tablets, i just wanted it over with ASAP. my epu were fantastic, i had the d&c the next day, went into hospital at about 3pm and was home by 10pm. i had very little pain and bled only for a day or two afterwards. i may be going through another mmc at the moment and if it is confirmed then i will definately have another d&c.
each procedure has it's pros and cons, i am sure you will decide what will suit you the best.
take care,
kristen xx

So sorry for your loss.

From my experience of the D&C I would opt for the tablets. They are more natural, you're body rejects your baby whereas, the D&C takes it away and fucks your body up.

That's my opinion!

hey you, my thoughts are with you

i lost my baby at 14+6 and the baby died at 12+4 so i chose the d and c, my d and c was messed up and 4 days later i passed part of my baby anyway so in hindsight i wish i had taken the tablets. for you it is slightly different as you are not so far along so there really shouldn't be any complications but its personal choice with a d and c its over quicker. Medical professionals generally recommend waiting at least 1 normal cycle whether you have it medically managed or a d and c, the reason for this is to allow your body to recover and to date the next pregnancy, but again that is personal choice. I think the risk of infection is higher with a d and c as they are invading your body.

If you have any questions please feel free to pm me xxxxxx

I would go the natural way. As natural as it possibly could get that is. There are more risks with surgery and thats why i have just opted for medication but the main thing that led me to this conclusion is that they did not know where my pregnancy was. I think you should do what feels right for you. xx

i'm having missed miscarriage and decided to go with tablets. can't help you in which one is better as i'm starting it today but somehow for me it seems right. might regret it on Monday. will be able to tell you more next week. i hate the fact that on top of loosing a baby have to make decisions like that. take care

hey,

i had a d&c in April this year after what i thought was a missed miscarriage at 7 weeks (later found out it was a molar)

anyway i opted for the d&c because ive heard that if you take the medication you can get contraction like pains and i was already emotionally messed up enough without going through all that pain of "giving birth" so to say of whatever was inside of me.

my d&c was over in a flash, i had the d&c the same day i found out the pregnancy wasnt going to continue and was home the same day, wasnt in any pain though some women can be and bled for about a week afterwards. nothing too heavy though just like a period. didnt pass any clots or anything so they did a good job of removing it all.

i suppose if you want it all over with quickly and pain free then opt for the d&c, or if you want to go down the natural route then the tablets. good luck whatever your decision xx
