O Rhesus Negative

Hi girls

I was not given my antigen injection (not sure if correct word/spelling, sorry) after my miscarriage. I am O Rhesus negative. The doc said that I did not need one to protect against future pregnancies.

Has anyone encountered this.

xx

Hi Spunky

This would make some sense then as I was 9 weeks. She did not explain that to me.

Thanks for clearing that up!

Sorry to read about your loss.

If you had your loss under 12 weeks, you don't need the anti D injection.

I had 3 pregnancy losses in the first trimester and didn't need Anti-D - However I did after the birth of both children.

Hi RachieH

Thanks for letting me know about the injection. I was worried as I have read on the internet that I should have had one.

I am so sorry about your losses. That must have been so awful for you lovely.

Have you gone on to have a viable pregnancy.

xx

Actually it was a bit of a gey area for me too after my losses, as my GP wasn't actually sure if I needed it after my first loss! - He had to get his reference book out! lol
-Yes, the miscarriages were horrendous at the time, especially as I had fertility problems as well, but in all honesty I don't think about them much these days. I know that sounds awful, but since having my children the pain is a distant memory. Sometimes I think about what might have been, but time is a great healer!
- Yes, after 3 losses I now have two very healthy children!

Hi

I am glad that it turned out so well for you. Not good about the dodgy doctor though!

This is what I find so encouraging on this forum. Everyone has a different story, whether good or bad but everyone is so lovely.

Sorry to hear of your loss Rumpskin. The other girls are right, as you were just 9 weeks, you did not need the Anti D injection. I experienced 2 losses before 12 weeks and didn't get the shot with either. Just to give you a word of encouragement... I now have 2 healthy children. Wishing you all the best and a sticky bfp very soon. x

Hi - Just thought I would let you know I would have been 10 weeks pregnant today with my first baby but I had my D&C this morning.

I too am rhesus neg and they did give me a shot of anti-d today. I don't know if hospitals operate differently but there seemed to be no doubt from anyone today that I get the shot. It may be worthwhile checking this out I think its better to get it than not?
