Started miscarrying today?

Hi there

Was happily on the first trimester forums until last night.

I have been the minor injuries this morning have been sent home to rest. Apparently I have to have a blood test tomorrow and then another in a week. Not really sure what I should be doing, it's definitely happening and blood tests seem so minor. I know it's hard but can anyone tell me whether I should be pushing for something more to confirm it, so I can start moving on(not that I feel like it). I was seven weeks today.

Thanks

I am so sorry for what you are going through. I was 22 weeks when I lost mine and so don't think I can offer any advice other than rest rest rest and contact dr if bleeding worsens. One of the other girls maybe able to offer better help.

sorry to hear you are going through this difficult time. Did you go to hospital because of bleeding? Are you bleeding heavily or just spotting. Regardless of the answer, the minor injury should have referred you to your local early pregnancy unit (I'm assuming you are in GB). There, they should be offering you a scan to see whether the baby is ok (the source of the bleeding might have nothing to do with the baby) and at this early stage, your blood should be monitored every other 2 or 3 days, not 7 days.

It is essential that if you have any concerns, they should monitor you closely to rule out the possibility of an ectopic pregnancy. When I started spotting two weeks ago, I called my epu and they told me to come right away, even though I had no pain and only very minor recent bleeding. There, they did an internal scan right away (which show nothing in uterus) and did blood test. I was asked to return 2 days later for a second scan and blood test. I then had a further 3 blood tests and a third scan, even though at this stage, it was obvious I was miscarrying. I will now continue to receive blood tests every week until levels are down to normal.

Don't hesitate to demand a scan, if you have bleeding, it would be the normal protocol. Many many hugs to you, hoping that everything is fine and your baby is growing happily

hey, i completely agree with FBBaby. they should have sent you for a scan to make sure that you will definately miscarry not just assume because of the bleeding because some women go on to have healthy babies with bleeding.
when i was miscarrying my bloods were done every 2 days not once a week so i would get that checked out too.

so sorry to hear about your situation xx

Thanks girls

I had mild/moderate bleeding this morning. I have definitely miscarried today now, have been bleeding very heavily and had horrendous stomach cramps for an hour until I passed my little bean. It's defintely over for me now!! Am very very sad...

Was a bit disappointed that I had been sent home, with no idea what would happen. I am so gutted and now the blood tests will just be a formality. Do you think they will check me to see that my uterus is clear, I am very new to all this, although can't imagine putting myself through this again very soon.

Thank you for replying xxx

I am so, so sorry for your loss.

I had the same experience on Sunday morning. On Monday i went for a scan to confirm what had happened. I have bled quite heavily since with cramps, clots and more tissue, so be prepared for that over the next few days. I think it is better to be at home as its an environment you are comfortable in and once the shock wears off you need some space to mourn and let out any feelings you have. i would have hated to have been anywhere else. You will definitely be having a scan just to check your uterus is clear.

Everyone is different but you will probably be very up and down for a while so i hope you have someone to care for you. Today for the first time I feel stronger both physically and emotionally but that may change tomorrow and i have yet to face the world as have been cocooned at home with just hubby.

Give yourself time to come to deal with and don't bottle anything up, you have been through one of the worst experiences a women can have.

i will be thinking of you

Still in complete shock but thank you so much for your messages, I have been back to the Dr today for a blood test to test for the pregnancy hormone and told them what happened and they decided I didn't need one as I obviously wasn't pregnant anymore.

I asked about a scan and they said I didn't need one as it sounded as though it had all passed out naturally. Still a little confused but booked another appointment for next week as I have no idea where I go from here. Not sure when I can try again and what is recommended.....anyone know??

Feel a bit let down by them really xxx

Hey you!

Sorry to hear this. How many weeks were you? The reason why I'm asking if when I've MC I'm always monitored at the EPU.

X

Hi, firstly big for your loss. It's a difficult time so take time to look after yourself and don't feel guilty for however long you need for that.

I wanted to log-in and just share my experiences which sound quite similar. I miscarried at 9 weeks, with bleeding and cramps the first sign. I went to A&E where they just did a pregnancy test, but I wasn't in my home area and the bleeding had only started that day, so at that time it could have been a threatened m/c. Two days later I'd gone home and the bleeding had continued so I went to my local A&E. They did blood tests and an internal exam to see if the cervix was open, which it was. By then it was obvious that I was miscarrying and I was told to go back 2 days later for a blood test to confirm it (ie. hormone check - if the hormone was decreasing, m/c was definite).

I guess it differs where you live, how far along the pregnancy was, what the symptoms are - how much bleeding and what has been passed. Some places may scan, but I think if they're confident that all has passed naturally, which it did with me, then they don't scan. Again it probably depends on area and also stage of pregnancy. I guess you know your body best and if it doesn't feel right, go back to your doctor or hospital. Sorry to have gone on so much but I hope that helps - I couldn't read and run.

again. Take care. xx
