Cookie,

It sounds like we are going through the same type of thing at the moment!!,
I have had 1 ectopic and 3 miscarriages the most recent in October, we have been for test after test and got no answers just that we are unlucky!!!, we have just seen a conslutant in Nov and he said the next step for us is when we next get pregnant to start taking baby asprin and progesterone as soon as you find out, and we shall see what happens from there, but just wanted to say that you are not alone and if you ever need someone to talk to or just to vent then you can always PM me!! take care

Hey Cookie, I can't say I have been through this - only once. But I know someone who miscarried girls. She wasn't able to carry girl babies only boy babies. Over the years she's had around 13 pregnancies 4 of which were boys and they went full term.

Hope it works for you soon though.

Never give up. I had 6 miscarriages in a row and know how low you are feeling. Are you and partner seeing a infertility consultant? Chase up your gp for a referral if not. Found out my hubby had some dodgey sperm. I am now on my thirteenth pregnancy with baby number 4! Hope 2008 is your year

Sorry for your losses.

The GP sounds rubbish, but GP's can't do the investigations that you need anyway, they just refer you, so it's good that you have been referred to a specialist, hopefully they will be much better.

I have found Lesley Regan's book about miscarriage helpful in explaining the science and dismissing rubbish like "wrong mental state". Comments I have had (from relatives / friends) include that we were trying "too soon" after having our daughter / the last miscarriage (implying that it is our fault), that I needed to "sort myself out" before conceiving and that I might have "got it wrong" about being pregnant at all. Grrr. It helps to ignore all these kind of comments!

We have a young daughter but since trying again I have had three early miscarriages in six months. It is really hard.

This time when I found out I was pregnant we could not get excited as we felt so worried. But gradually I started to feel hopeful and waited until I thought I was 8 weeks and went for a scan (my local early pregnancy unit will do "reassurance scans" for women who have previously had miscarriages). They think that the pregnancy is underdeveloped for the dates, no embryo / heartbeat yet visible, just the pregnancy "sac", so likely to be another miscarriage except this time my body hasn't yet realised. They are going to scan again in two weeks in case of the dates being wrong, but all my pregnancy symptoms stopped a couple of weeks ago, as they did the other times. So am not hopeful.

I know we are really lucky to have our little girl, but it doesn't stop us feeling sad and wondering if we will be able to have another one. I'm hoping that we'll be referred to a specialist soon. Am feeling crap though.

In terms of talking to people, we were initally open with our friends and family about what was going on, but to be honest wish we hadn't because of all the insensitive comments! Am trying to have a thick skin about it as know people mean well, but this time I haven't told as many people.

Good luck for the future.

My husband and I have had blood tests and everything has been clear so far. Has anyone else been in this situation? I am feeling really lonely, having just moved to a new job/area with nobody to talk to about what I'm going through. My GP isn't very sympathetic, he claims the miscarriages are all caused by "my mental state". I'm waiting for a consultant appointment in the new year
I really don't know what to do with myself
thanks for listening

I have had 3 miscarriages 8, 10 and a MMC at 11wks and the baby stopped growing at 8.

i"m a Navy wife and our doctors are amazing. I was put through the song and dance about miscarraiges and why they happen..yada yada..and the finally my last OB said he was tired of seeing woman lose their babies. sent me in for regular blood work to see why i'm losing my babies.

I have MTHFR.
please google it its a VERY common gene mutation but I have 2 bad copies on my C and A gene. this defect makes it so my body doesn't produce folice acid or vit b6 and 12 vital for pregnancy and my body creates blood clots that get stuck in my baby's cord.

please ask your doctor to test you for it.

let me know!

So sorry to hear this!

I've had 4 mc's in 11 months, all ending early. Had all the tests done and was told there was nothing wrong. A few years ago I had my thyroid removed so decided to go back to my surgeon to get her view as I had read Thyroid problems can cause early m/c's. Turns out even though I've got it removed my medication was way to high making my thyroid toxic. They reduced my dose and I've recently came back off the pill, so I'm hoping my next is super super sticky!

xxx
