Hopeful's AC Journal - The Life of an IUI er

to see my journal entry for my #4th IUI attempt booked 9th May 2009

____________________________________________________________________________________________________ ___________

Hi There,

Thanks so much for taking the time to read my journal.

I would love to hear any advice or suggestion you may have. I need all the help I can get.

DH and I have been TTC since 2007 with PCOS and in May 2008 we finally went for IUI/AI. I am 29 and DH is 35.
It was a last minute decision and so there was no time for medication and so had little hope that it would work but were relieved we were going to give it a proper go and had an appointment set up to do it all over again 4 weeks later.
As it turned out the next appointment was spent looking at a scan of our baby.

Unfortunately it wasn't meant to be and at 13w1d the gynea picked up that the left side of his heart had not developed, there was water on the brain and his nuchal fold was 0.89 when it should have been less than 0.3 and so we were told that he would only live to about 6 months in the womb and we would have to terminate the pregnancy.
Our world fell apart and saying good by to our gorgeous little baby was the hardest thing we have ever had to do
9 May 2008 IUI #1 = BFP Baby lived to 14w1d 4 August 2008 http://www.babyandbump.com/introduce...pregnancy.html

I had a D&C which I found out 4 weeks afterwards was incomplete and my HCG level was still a wopping 124,000.
I then had an ERPC and the physical road to recovery was drawing to a close, the emotional road was only just beginning.

Almost 4 months on and we are still trying. Perhaps you will be able to read what I am doing and learn from my mistakes,
or hopefully what I am going to get right in the end.

Cycle 11th January 2009 IUI cancelled due to follicle being 3.5cm instead of much less than 1.3cm

CD1 - Jan 11 AF arrived two days after last BCP
- Meds - Fertility Multivitimin

CD2 - Meds - Oestrogen (taken in hopes this would be an IUI cycle, unfortunately it was not)
- Meds - Fertility Multivitimin

CD3/CD8 - Jan 13 Appointment with FS for Follicle checking Scan
(Follicle was 6cm last month, this month it is down to just over 3.5cm. FS said it has to be less than 1.3cm for him to do an IUI cycle. BCP was prescribed for another month to reduce the follicle.
He did try and rupture the follicle with the "vaginal-probe/scanner", blinking painful and unfortunately unsuccessful)
- Meds - Fertility Multivitimin
- BCP - AF dissappeared within a couple days so started active BCP tablet to minimise any chance of follicle to growing, so now on CD8 instead of CD3.

January 19 - Today was supposed to be my baby boys' birthday.

CD9-CD28 - Meds - Fertility Multivitimin
- Meds - BCP

± CD31/CD1 - Feb 5 AF Should arrive
±CD2 - Feb 6 Appointment with FS to check follicle and start IUI treatment with Gonal-F and Clomid

Feeling a bit sad that I am not really in with a chance this month, but hope that this will mean my chances next month are improved.

Curious as to what BCP is, some of the girls have taken it to reduce an over stimulated follicle like mine, but I am sure that BCP is just the birth control pill. I wonder how it works.
