OH being sent home?

Hi ladies,

I've heard that your partner can get sent home from hospital during labour if you're not going to give birth for a while. Does anyone know if this is what happens or if it varies from hospital to hospital?

Thanks

i think if you are in established labour your partner will not get sent home, most hospital policies here are you can have your birthing partner with you in labour ward all the time, but you are only allowed one birthing partner. i couldnt do it without my oh there x

In my experience they'll chuck em out every opportunity they can if it isn't visiting hours the cunts.

Unless you in the delivery suite don't expect to be able to have him around unless its visiting hours.

I had my son removed by EMCS and we got 30 minutes on recovery together as a family (hubby hadn't come to theatre) before throwing him out and wheeling me alone down to ward.

At our hospital if you are on the labour ward your birth partner can visit any time between 8am and 9pm. If you are in delivery your birth partner doesn't get asked to leave x

i was induced with my first and i will be being induced this time.
in my case:

i got to the hospital at about 10:00. OH was allowed to visit from 8am to 8pm. he left that night at around half 9 though as i wasn't coping too well with everything and the midwife was really chilled out.

my waters broke at around midnight and i was moved up to delivery suite at about 3am. i was told to ring OH to come back in. he then stayed with me indefinitely until jake was born. i got moved onto the other ward after i'd delivered where the visiting hours for partners were again 8am to 8pm. the visiting hours were different for family, i think they were 2 - 4 or something.

when you're in labour i'm pretty sure your birthing partners are allowed to stay with you for as long as you need them too. it's when you get onto the wards things are a bit different.

In our hospital once in established labour we get taken down to delivery suite (if there is room) and by then our partners can stay the duration though if we aren't at least 4cm we have to stay on the ward x

I believe once your in established labour on delivery suite they are allowed to stay, oh had to go home straight after baby was born n I was transferred to ward, my sister was 3cm dilated so not considered in established labour so her husband was sent home, within 40 mins she was fully dilated n baby was born so he missed it! Very rare it happens that quick but I'd be soooo annoyed!!!

When i was in labour my hubby was there the entire time.. he got a wrist band placed on his wrist with his details that said father on it. HE was there the entire time from admission till we left the hospital and were sent home. It sounds quite different over here. The father is very much included and kept a part of everything. I went to the OR first time around and he was in there next to me really fast. He escorted our son back to the room and was with our baby while I was being stitched up etc.

At our hospitals the husband/father/partner gets a wrist band and is able to be there 24/7 with mom. That's sad that some are suppose to leave if it's not during visiting hours. You're not visiting your wife/mother/partner, you're supporting them in labor and birth.
