does any one have a great method of keeping them at bay


thing is my oh has 3 other kids... and his girls get them all the time

i do there hair for them... problem is they also have 2 other sisters at there mums who have them too... so oh's girls just get them back.....

and his youngest is 10 she is like the breeder of the bunch and regardless is always riddled i no that from me doing there hair every weekend isnt gonna get rid because its not regular enough....

but its getting to the stage now where my LO is getting them she isnt even properly socialising yet and she only get an add one but that odd one lay's an egg and ive gotton find what it has laid any tips on how to keep them at bay from lo's head as i no im not gonna get rid of the girls my self and luckily they are getting to the age where they are trying to do there own hair so we might just be able to get them under control

does a teatree spray work.... ive used teatree oil and i no that kills them but just want to stop them from even getting on the head if ya know wat i mean sorry long lol

Omg i hate headlice!!!
My 12 year old has suffered horrendously since she first started school. She has never really been free of them. I even had her hair cut off into a bob. Fingers crossed shes not had any for a while.
My LO is 13mths and goes to nursery for 3hrs once a week and has picked them up from there, i cried, shes to young!! Yet my son doesnt get them.
Tea Tree is supposed to be good but ive never found it to be that useful. And they tend to get immune to the lotions.
My mum got me a comb , called the Nitty Gritty comb. Its a metal one, and costs about ten pound, and has a lifetime guarantee.
It is fantastic, it not only gets the lice out, it also takes all the nits out to and live eggs.
Tbh i dont think there is anything you can get that will stop them from getting on LOs head hun, they are persistent little blighters.

Its not nice, just the thought of them makes me itch. So i can only imagine what its like for the poor children.
I know that my LO was so uncomfortable she was trying to pull her hair out, it was awful.
Hedrin is good to get rid of them, and its chemical free. I dont think it has to be on for long either xx

When i was young i always got them, and i was so embarrassed. I cut my OWN hair off and ened up having to have a boy cut for a while cos where id cut it, it looked awful. (but after it was cit so short i didnt get them anymore.)

(when it was long) The best way i found was, i washed my hair everyday, left conditioner in it and combed through it with a nit comb twice or three times. I plaited my hair, and put the plait into a bun. The nits cant move around properly, and if they are in the plait they cant get to the scalp. It worked for me.

But i always sprayed my hair with this tea tree stuff every night before bed.

im not sure in a small child tho, touch wood, my kids havent got them yet!!!

My daughter had it once years ago and she had hair down to her waist. 2 hours combing every night, etc. for a few weeks and still didn't get them out. I finally used a hair straightener and I think it burned them off.

comb comb comb, every single night, you have to break the cycle as soon as the eggs hatch you need to comb them out. rosie had her hair plaited everyday.
also teach your children to keep their heads away from other kids heads rosies school was very good at this, tea tree is ood as well.

but combing everyday with conditioner is a must

i plait my dd hair for school and tell her not to go to close to other childrens heads, she has not had them yet (touch wood)

When i had head lice when i was younger i had very long hair. nothing seemed to work. Conditioner actually feeds them. I know this may sound REALLY gross but if you put mayonnaise on her hair and let it sit on there for about an hour put a swimming cap on her head too. and then wash it out using only shampoo that is what worked the best for me.

Although i do know a young girl who had to get prescription shampoo to get rid of them because they were so bad.
