School Meals

Do your kids take a packed lunch or have school cooked meals?
Willow has been having school cooked lunches and told me today they had and I quote 'cottage pie with a lid instead of mash on top' Turns out it was a meat pie with a pastry top.

My son has packed lunch now.
Used to have school dinners except on Fri when it was fish ( He has bad fish allergy). One day he came home and said they had fish on a day that wasn't FRi (whats the point of giving you a menu if they don't stick to it).

Asked what he had and he said pasta & cheese.

Since then he hasn't had a school dinner. I can't take the risk. All it takes is the smallest amount of fish and his mouh swells.

When he had his bad reaction he spat the fish out thankfully yet all his mouth swelled and his heart raced. Was told if he'd swallowed it he'd have gone into full blown anaphylatic shock within minutes.

Call me paranoid, but if they can't stick to menu sent home, I can't risk him coming into contact with fish.

What a smart lad for spitting it out.
You can't be too careful with allergies and you're not paranoid, just sensible.
