Breaks my heart!

As mentioned, my daughter is in Grade 1. Yesterday she had a doctor's appointment in the morning so was back in school just before her lunch break.

When I picked her up after school, she told me that she asked one group of girls from her class to play, and they said no. She asked the other group of girls, and they said no. She asked the group of boys, and they said no unless she burped. (OK, that part is funny!)

Gees, what is with kids nowadays. It broke my heart to hear that her classmates would say no to her. She's such a sweet girl!

Last year, in her school where she attended kindergarten, she was so well-liked and never had this issue.

Today, I am going down to her school at lunchtime to observe from my vehicle. If I hear one more time that a girl in her class is being mean to her, I will talk to the parents.

My daughter last week, because she is so good about these things already, told this girl that she was being mean to her. The girl apologized and they had been playing nice. Now, the girl is being mean again.

Aww poor little mite, how old is grade 1? 5-6years
Having worked in a school i have learnt that girls are very funny creatures at times
i would go and speak to your little ones teacher and tell them what is happening, so that they can moniter it, lets hope it is a one off as it is heart breaking to think of any child being lonely at play time

Yes, they sure can

If I don't see an improvement over the next few days, I am going to talk to her teacher too. There should be activities to get all kids, especially at that age, involved at lunch breaks, etc.

Girls are like this when they get older, but now it's getting younger and younger. Unreal!

Yes, I will talk to the teacher if this goes on. She absolutely loves school and goes even when she's sick with a cold, etc. I'd hate for her to start disliking school because of this treatment.

Ahh! It's suprising how cliquey kids can be at such a young age now.

When my niece was 6-8 (not quite sure) I had to speak to her about being like that with other girls. I told her in the end it'll do nothing but leave her with nobody. I don't think she quite understood but the fact she was telling people they couldn't play with her because she was someone elses best friend that day got right on my tits!

Very true and I'd have done the same! Hopefully she did understand. As they say too, what comes around goes around.

UGH! She's been coughing for a good part of the night. But that doesn't usually stop her from going to school.

I asked her this morning if she was feeling well, and she said that she's still going to school.

Then, five minutes ago she said she didn't want to go and wanted a bath.

Did she now think about what happened yesterday? Or is she truly not well?

Time will tell today but I will have a talk to her.
