I'm Currently Feeling: | Her friend didn't show up for Jayden's bday party, but the mother did have her out of school the day before as she was sick. Also, she hasn't been in school since last Thursday so I do believe that.
The teacher had a talk with Amanda on Friday and Amanda denied that this was happening to her. (The teacher had a talk with the others girls too and told them to include each other.) Ok, I would believe it but my daughter is usually very honest and when I drive by the school (which is 2 minutes away from our house) I've caught her by herself. I think Amanda was embarrassed to tell the teacher.
Anyhow, the teacher said that she will keep an eye, and I have been as well. I've been by the school at lunchtime Friday and Monday and Amanda was playing with some girls. I will keep an eye out though.
Speaking of which, I need to register her in soccer. It doesn't start until the fall so I need to find something else in the meantime. | |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Gosh, I love her teacher! Jayden will have her next year too.
Anyhow, Amanda brought home a picture today that she did at school. It was a swing set with herself and a friend from class on it. I asked her what it was about and Amanda said about playing nicely with others.
So, what it has to do with was not leaving other kids out. Looks like the teacher has been really trying to instill this into the kids since I talked to her last Friday.
I could just hug that teacher! | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | Leanne, I don't know if you've found anything for Amanda to do before soccer starts, but have you considered putting her in diving lessons if she likes to swim? There is absolutely nothing more exhillirating and self confidence building than finally getting your dive right, and it isn't a hugely popular sport (not like dance and gymnastics and soccer), so she might feel cool knowing she can do cool stuff that most of her friends can't. I know I did. | | | | Status: Online

I know I did. | Funny you should mention swimming. Actually, hon, she doesn't swim yet. However, that's one thing I was thinking of was putting them in swimming lessons next month. I don't swim but in the area we are in, swimming is a must around here with all the lakes, etc. I actually thought it wiser than gymnastics for now. | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | Bless her, sounds awful !!
What surprises me is that the teachers aren't stepping in.. they should have noticed this behaviour. I know they try to encourage self problem solving, but they normally step in and give a bit of guidance...
Do what you need to do, as they're at a really impressionable age then, and it could affect her longer term, especially if she starts to lose confidence.
I hope you get it sorted | | | | Status: Online

I'm Currently Feeling: | I was dropping off Amanda today and another mother, whom I chit chat to a tiny bit about weather, my pregnancy, and menial stuff, took me aside and asked if Amanda was having issues with the other girls.
Well, Amanda in Grade 1 and it is split part of the day with the kindergarten children who come in for a few hours. Seems the mother's daughter, who is in kindergarten, is going through the same thing.
In kindergarten now?! Good lord, this is getting sad!
Anyhow, she's a super nice person and we are probably going to get our daughters together for a play date soon.
Besides this, I have booked Amanda and Jayden up for various things throughout the summer so that should help them meet more friends and keep them busy. | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | My sister is going through a bit of that with her daughter (9 years old). Totally unreal how cruel kids can be. Is there anyway you can have a "movie night" or "pajama party" for a couple girls at her school? A way to reel in some new friends??? | | | | Status: Offline
