Nursery furniture-----> when they are older

am looking at nursery furniture to see how much it costs - trying to tighten our belts alot and not buy things if its not needed and to buy things that will last a while

Wasn't sure where to put this - thought here may be ok

Question for you parents - how old were the kids when you changed the nursery furniture to something else ??? They seem very standard that could be used throughout childhood I was thinking spend money on buying a wardrobe, chest of drawers and a cot bed in wood then that will last at least 5 years right ?????? if not longer. What did you do when they grew out of the bed ??? did you start again or just change the bed (like things to match so then the bed would be different to the wardrobe and the drawers)

Obviously we need the cot - don't have to have the wardrobe now (but will eventually) and need the chest of drawers so I said we might as well buy a package - H was not happy with the price

Any ideas or tips would be great - and pics if you have them

Thanks in advance
