Nuchal Translucency worry

Hi,
I am a first time mum-to-be at 35 and had a nuchal screen last night, which showed an NF of 4.5mm. We are now worried sick about what this could mean and have to wait a week for the blood results which I have been told will be high risk given the scan result.
We have decided to have a CVS as the next step but I am still told that there could be heart defects and other abnormalities - has anyone else gone through similar - is there a happy ending out there?
At the moment we are both very emotional and don't know what to do for the best.....
