Hi, I have been reading these forums on and off now for 18 months while I have been ttc and the time has come where I am a few days before AF, going crazy and need to let off some steam so figured I'd do so by making my first post!

We are trying for our 1st child and like everyone else, I just assumed it would come naturally. The frustration of making the decision that we are ready and then seeing every month go by is gut wrenching. We are now finally 'in the system', I have had my first appointment at the nhs fertility clinic and am due to go back next month for a follow up after my hsg. But it looks like we fall into the 'unexplained infertility' group which makes everythign so much harder to bear because there's no good reason that I am not here with a baby in my arms.

I guess my question relates to treatment ongoing from here. I am not altogether unhopeful as this is our first cycle since the HSG and I have heard that it can sometimes just unblock things (it was so incredibly painful, I should flippin' hope it did something!!) But in case it doesn't go our way, I believe the next step for us is IUI which we will get a few cycles of and then we will be allowed IVF if we still haven't conceived after 3 years. It all seems such an incredibly long way off, how do people cope with waiting for treatment? How effective is IUI in unexplained infertility?
