Just seen Heidi's thread on weddings and it got me to thinking. Me and OH will be getting married eventually but we really want to do something different. We don't want a church wedding but don't want to do it in a registry office either.......
Any of you have any original ideas for weddings or can tell me your original wedding stories?
We were thinking of doing it outside in some lovely gardens or something.... I'm so stuck for really out there ideas which will stick in people's memories!!
Plus I don't think you need to spend a fortune on weddings nowadays.....

Were looking into to doing a pagan blessing one (no thats not the naked one )
Robs a pagan anyways.
Was thinking of going to the registry office, getting all the paper work done then go to our venue and get the blessing done then a party
Edit, lookup handfasting, thats the sorta idea we want to go with.

The religion or handfasting?
I dont know too much about it yet, but it involves a blessing from a pagan priest, and during the ceromony the hands are bound by a rope, hence "tying the knot"

What about....
I planned a wedding where it was in an old church (I know you said no church, but hear me out ) which was no longer in use. It was *full* of flowers and candles as there was no electricity. The old pews had deerskins down on them too. The church was in the middle of a national park in the highlands of Scotland, so there was literally nothing but sheep for miles. After the ceremony they had the reception in a large marquee in the woodland around the church. The trees had fairy lights all strung through them surrounding the marquee.
It was one of my favorites.
