Direct debit question

Do all companies need to notify you before taking money out of your account?

I have insurance on my phone and twice now money has gone out to pay for it but ive never had any letters or anything to tell me when they are taking money out.

did u sign up for the insurance? cause sometimes they dont automatically inform u that payments have commenced, it can be weeks down the line.

And they certainly have no right if u havent signed up for it!

Direct debit is a monthly or weekly charge as for the insurance then yer you have signed that you would like insurance on mobile & for it to be taken monthly I assume so you agreed and signed for direct debit for this item so to speak and set up direct debit payments. They usually come out around the same time each month for example my mobile comes out between the 20th-25th of each month

Well, I think a lot of the time it is in the small print so you wouldn't think anything of it. I remember my boyfriend had the same problem with a company, he was very annoyed but they told him there was nothing they could do as he agreed to their terms and conditions.

Probably best to ask if you can be notified, or check their t&c before moaning at them about it.

When I got my pc from pc world I took out insurance. Now, a year down the line nearly it is still coming out of my bank by direct debit every month. I want to cancel it but I was never sent any info through the post so I dont know who to write to. I have been on the pc world website but cant see anything about insurance policies. I have heard that I can ring my bank up and tell them to cancel the direct debit. Is this enough?? or will pc world keep trying to take it every month n it somehow all cock up?!
