Anyone Changed Name - Deed Poll

Just wondered if any of you have changed their name through deed poll before.

With much child history I always wanted to change mine & with some help I managed to associate my fathers name with my national insurance number etc although Mums maiden name was on my birth certificate ... then she married either way the name on my certificate is one I'm never known by & I wanted rid of being known or associated to her.

So looked into changing it by deed poll never got there lol then I considered changing it randomly but never looked into that at all.

NOW obviously with baby on way its been a bit up an down for me regarding surnames us not married I'd like baby to be connected to me that way but sense is if baby has my name which I hate anyway and we get wed then it won’t have 'our' surname IF we should split & baby has my name & I wed then baby won't have mine or OHs surname which I hate the sound of.

SOOOOO *I'm getting there* I'm changing my name to OHs surname that way baby will have 'our' name should it ever come to the point he will always have Dads name & never have a different surname from us both & I feel so much better to have this changed before bubs & be connected that way than feeling separate .. hope that makes sense.

Just don't know how to go about it! You can do it online? How did others do it? Hoping someone has!

Rob has done it, he did his online. It was so easy to do!
We did find out that the deed poll is only valid in England as the site he done his was an English site but its not been a problem places up ehre have still accepted it as proof of ID.

Will see if i can find the site for you.

I changed my name via a solicitor before I got divorced but it definitely must be something you can do yourself. I think it cost me around £100 to change around 6 years ago.

Was going to change my name again to DH's but next thing you know we are getting married. Watch out for that!!
