Ermmm im not sure babe!!

Im on the housing list at my local council & it's loooong!!

They take into consideration things like it being unsuitable & overcrowded. But just because you have a LO they wont bump you up the list Aslong as youve got a roof over your head your not really seen as an emergency!!

What id suggest is to look at private renting. If your OH is working then you should be able to get a deposit together. Some councils help with that. Also housing benefit will help cover your rent. Thats what I intend to do

xx

I know you considering wrexham and the waiting list is huge!! I was talking to someone from my surestart group the other day and she know at least 10 on the emergency list, my friend has been in an emergency flat for a year, it one bedroomed and the damp is so bad in bedroom that the baby sleeps in lounge, i think the only way to speed things up is if OH mum throws you out for no reason, if you make yourself homeless then they'll just say its your own fault, you'll probably gettin bumped up the list once LO is born. But nowadays havin a baby doesn't give you that much extra points. I hope you don't have to wait to long x x

They could offer you a hostel aswell. It doesn't necessaraily have to be a house or a flat

Sorry, but just saw this....your friend can make a complaint about the damp. The landlord who is dealing with the property has to ensure it is suitable and damp is not suitable especially with a baby. It can cause mould and breathing problems. I am a caseworker and if my client told me there was damp in the bedroom to the point it cannot be used I would demand that the landlord solves the problem or move my client immediately to a better place.

You can call the housing register in Dundee and ask what the waiting time is and also what priority you have been given. You could also explain the circumstances and why where you are staying is not suitable. As for Wales, not sure how things are there, but where I work anyone from outside the area who applies on the housing register gets low priority for housing. In other words, people who are already resident have a higher priority. But, Wales may be different.
