Am I being Hormonal and Irrational?

I have been with my boyfriend for 5 years, we have two children and I am 6 months pregnant with our third.

A few years ago there were a couple of incidents that made me question his infidelity, despite some pretty strong (but not hard) evidence against him he has always maintained his innocence and I chose to accept his version of events.

About 2 months ago I found a small lump between my vagina and bottom, I am now pretty certain it is a genital wart.
I have not had any other sexual partners in nearly 7 years and I am so horribly upset.
I live abroad and at my monthly pregnancy check up they do an internal, so I have not been to the check ups for two months because I am so embarassed. I am returning to the UK this weekend and have an appointment with the GUM clinic to find out what the lump is.

My boyfriend is angry that I am accusing him again, after all this time, of having been unfaithful, I am angry because I feel as though he was lying all along, I don't see how else I could have contracted genital warts.

The info available on the net varies, from what I can gather it is quite common for genital warts to appear in pregnancy. The incubation period is between 2-3 months and 2 years, though some websites have said it can be as many as 6 years, and that some people never show signs (visible warts) at all. My boyfriend has no warts, but I have not had sexual relations with anyone else since I got together with him 5 years ago, and had no sexual partners in the 2 years before getting together with him, previous to that I had the same partner for 5 years.

I am just so so horribly upset about it all, I am 99% certain it is warts, and from speaking to a lady at the GUM clinic she agrees there is not much else it could be.
I don't know what to do and am also worried as genital warts can be transmitted to a baby during birth

My boyfriend thinks I am over reacting, and being irrational, I feel I have every right to be upset. Has anyone else had the wart virus and can tell me anything about it? Has anyone had it in pregnancy and does anyone know if it is possible I caught this before I was with my boyfriend?

Dont genital warts go inside the vagina?!? sorry if thats a stupid question and wouldnt he have to have them to give them to you!!!

I def think you should get yourself checked out as soon as poss.... and have a professional tell you what it is!! If it a wort then your boyfriend will have a lot of explaining to do

Hope it goes ok xxx

Hello hun,

I had a little lump appear a week or so ago and was really worried about it so went to get it checked out. I know my partner was unfaithful about 18 months ago and was worried he had done something again. However when I saw my GP it turns out that I had a bit of thrush and it had made a gland swell - causing this little lump.
All I would say is dont jump to conclusions just because the lady at the GUM clinic thinks thats what it could be - both the NHS helpline and my GP (before she had seen it) suggested genital warts - I think they are so used to seeing people with STI's now that they just presume thats what it is without even looking into it.

Definitely get it checked though and hopefully it will turn out to be nothing

xxx

I agree with sparky.
I had this swollen gland thing quite regular during pregnancy, used to drive me nuts. Caniston cream did help a lot though. Was triggered by pregnancy hormones.
Get it checked out though.
I hope its good news

Hey don't think you are over reacting if you have had reason to do so before but I would go and get it checked out and find out exactly what it is as like Sparky said it could just be a gland that is swollen which I hope it is hun

Not 100% but I think a lot of people can carry the HPV (human papilloma virus), which sometimes breaks out as warts, without even knowing they have it. There are some very high numbers out there on how many women in their 20s and 30s carry the virus. And not everyone gets the warts. So, if I remember this right, it could be possible that you've had the virus for longer than you think and it's only broken out now because of the pregnancy.

Here's a question. When I saw my doctor the first time to confirm my pregnancy, he had me go in for bloodwork, and 1 test was for STD's.

Did you go in for bloodwork? If so, would this have been detected at that time, if you do have an STD?

My mom was telling me all the unplesant things she had to deal with when she was pregnant (god bless her), and she said that she developed some sort of warts down there when she was pregnant that she had to get removed. I'd get it checked.
