I'm Currently Feeling:

Do they back date tax credits?

I gave up work in january this year and when my renewal pack came through last Monday I phoned them and told them that I definately wouldnt be going back to work as Im pregnant and I asked if I would have to wait until next April to start recieving tax credit of only having one wage coming in, they said sometimes they start paying it sooner and to look out for payments into my bank and that I should receive two awards through the post, well I received some extra money in my account last Friday (very quick - only 5 days after I rang them to renew).

Now Im wondering do they back date the money from January when I left until now, hope this all makes sense

Please help me understand it
